  • Hello from some where, middle east

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I have been a lurker on the board for a couple months now. Being a dedicated Meguiars user I was excited to hear about the board on autopia. I have been a member there for about 2 years but never posted. I look forward to learning more, especially the new 2005 products.

    Hi bmcomer,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I'll start posting the real pictures with real information and even the suggested retail prices starting tonight at 9:01pm Pacific Standard Time.

After posting to Autopia for a couple of years and from my previous experience posting to the web since 1994, (possibly 1993, but I can document posts in 1994), I decided that I wanted a forum to talk about Meguiar's without all the noise by people that want to use something else. The market is big enough for everyone, but sometimes you just don't want to hear the noise if you know what I mean.

So I started www.TheArtofPolishingPaint.com with a discussion forum for Meguiar's products. I soon discovered that the hosting company I was using couldn't support the bandwidth nor the all the behind the scenes work that is involved in running a forum. So I brought up www.ShowCarGarage.com using vbulletin with David Bynon's help. In the summer of 2003, I started posting the write-ups from the Detailing classes I was teaching on Saturdays.

From time to time I printed some of the threads out and shared them with my boss and he thought that the results were pretty cool. He asked me how come we couldn't keep this on www.meguiars.com and I told him, "Because www.Meguiars.com didn't have the tools to post pictures and comments to, so he told me to get them.

    The end result... www.MeguiarsOnline.com

The ironic thing is I have an e-mail on my hard drive that I sent the to Meguiar's dated 1999 where I suggested to the VP of Marketing at that time, that Meguiar's need to put up a discussion forum and I was volunteering to be the Admin/Moderator/Answer Man.

We launched NXT Generation product line last year at SEMA 2004, and the first NXT Generation Detailing Class was posted to the brand new forum, just 9 months ago

There are approximately 6-8 previous event posted to ShowCarGarage.

So it's been a long time coming, but it's finally here, and here to stay. As of the time of this post we have 1966 members, that's approximately a growth rate of 218 members a month. Not bad for a forum started in 2004.

Autopia is a great place to discuss all kinds of products, (which you can also do here), while Meguiar's Online is more dedicated for people that have already decided which products give them the results their looking for and want to participate with like-minded people. And here's the really cool part about this, Meguiar's has enough car crazy fans around the world that together we can all create a thriving and passion-filled community that enables people to get answers, learn about new products, and share their results from using our products.

So welcome to Meguiar's Online bmcomer!
If there is anything I can do to help you, please feel free to post your questions here on the forums! There are lots of other forum members with a wealth of knowledge and experience that are always willing to share what they know for a well rounded discussion.
