My name is Todd and I am a shine a holic/polish'a'holic (is that a word, and if so did I even come close to spelling it correctly?)
I picked up my first buffer and took it to town on my father's Corvette when I was 15 (didn't turn out well). I worked in a body shop 'detailing' cars for a while after that, but never really understood what I was doing. I 'detailed' a couple cars through college, but again, looking back on it, I never really got it. After discovering this site several years ago I dove full force into detailing. It became my passion, with 1000s of hours spent learning and experimenting how to extract the last ounce of gloss from the paint. It was/is an all consuming passion.
In the short time I have been doing this full time I have been very lucky (although I believe hard work creates luck). Recently I was named (alongside forum superstar and my good friend Joe Fernandez of Superior Shine) in Auto Week as one of the top 9 detailers in the country (way too many talented detailers deserved to be on this list, so the top 9 is with a grain of salt). I have made several very good, life long friends through this journey (and several pretty adamant enemies as well). Despite being very busy with detailing I recently took on a new challenge as a technical advisor and forum moderator for Classic Motoring Accessories. The goal is to create a forum with the sound technical advice offered on MOL, but with eye towards more product lines. So far so good with my new adventure, but between detailing 30-50 hours a week and being a family man I do feel a bit stretched at time (luckily I have severe insomnia which allows for an additional 3-5 hours a night when most people sleep).
I am excited to be back on MOL and look forward to continuing my education as a detailer as well as hopefully being able to offer some solid advice in return. At the very least I can offer advice on photography as apparently my picture taking ability is so good that I am able to fool my client's into thinking I know what I am talking about
