  • wax just to wax......

I have this problem in the past I would just wax just to wax my car. Before I met mike phillips on this forum and PM a couple of times I was over waxing my car based on another forum telling to wax. I used to wash, clay, paint cleaner, wax protector, sealant wax, super sealant wax on top of the wax sealant (P21s is the name I believe) the first sealant wax I applied the told me to put multiple layers on it like 3 to 6 layers yup I spent so much time layer this, layering that, layer this on top of the this layer etc...you get the idea. Now I just clay, paint cleaner, and apply NXT 2.0 and im finish I dont know if this the correct way, but my car shines just as good with 10 layers of so wax on it from before its great and now no more shoulder, triceps, and in general arm sores. Its great....though now what to do with all the other 10 waxes I have on board.....maybe layer them out of bored on my car to not waste them
Hi, im Jock and I have a layering of wax problem.

That's now over 4 years ago....

To date, no one has ever proven that adding more and more coats of any kind of wax or paint sealant to an automotive finish has left a thicker and thicker layer of product on the surface.

            Welcome.

Re: your "new" process. It's the same as mine.

I might add one optional step on occasion. Correction of minor scratches with ScratchX. Mine are all daily drivers with no garage but, that doesn't mean I have to put up with those random scratches on quarter panels that mysteriously show up between washing.

I have not tried layering (in fact) did not know about layering until I read it here.

But, I am quite happy with one layer of one LSP. I do not have enough time or resources to do a layering experiment.

I will keep it "simple". It's what works for me.

Remember when in doubt use the squeak test.

                mike,
exactly I read that so many times to beat it in my head over and over I even, "convinced myself" that the those extra 6 layers of wax of sealant I put make it look shinier, but it didnt in reality. I read your topic so many times the last 6 months to a year now I finally let the sand out of the claws and just used NXT 2.0 and it worked awesome I did though put two layers on with 12 hours cure time overall the shine on my car is better than what I did with all the other waxes I put on. it shard to explain what I was doing, but I literally put on layers, layers, layers on wax because folks at the other forum I visited a lot told me to do it. All this waxing to be hones took over 3 days.
