Just want to learn how to properly detail a car and looking for some good basics on rotary polishers. It seems that there is a lot of info on here so I guess I came to the right place.

Welcome! Unless you have a "beater" to practice on I think the consensus here will be that why not try starting with a DA polisher and work up to a rotary. Many of us use the DA/PC/G110 with results that look better than new car finishes. Translation....DA means Dual Action. PC means Porter Cable. G110 is the Meguiars brand of this type polisher.Black......the ONLY color!Comment

thanks everyone. I know I probably should start out with a pc or a g110, but it seems like those take so long to correct flaws in the paint. I definitely know the dangers of the rotary, and its power, but I really want the makita 9227. But if you guys really insist on a pc, maybe i will go for that.
