This may seem like a silly question, but I just bought a beautiful black car today but it has a dealer "sticker" on the back. How can I get it off without damaging the paint job or the finish? Any ideas?

Re: Not a car fanatic--just need a little advice...
Hair dryer. Dental Floss.
Works like a charm! I removed whole side strips in this manner. Keep the floss or fishing line as close to parallel to the car as possible. Wear gloves if you have to.
Use goo be gone to clean up any residue (if needed). May leave slight marring-- Don't use house hold rags. Use microfibers!!! Use a tube of scratchX if anything shows up you're not happy with. Be gentle and patient, its really much easier than it looks. I had no marring or severe residue.

Having spent a 'few' years dealing wth 'used cars/trucks...the easiest way, if possible, would be to take simple 'blow drier' & appy the heat lightly to the sticker/decal of the former dealer. Personaly, I find that using the edge of my thumbnail(s) will usually 'persuade' the stickers/decals' to 'lift' enough---SLOWLY---so that one can barely grasp the edge..and lightly pull/lift it up, going WITH any curvature of the decal. Go "SLOWLY"...it works better. Shall develop a 'feel' for the decal 'tension' as you go. If that is not working for you ,locate a standard 'adhesive remover'. Spray that on/over the entire surface and let set for a few minutes. Then try the 'thumbnail' method again. All you need to have is enough to grasp with your fingernails---and 'slowly' lift them/it up...letter by letter. TINY letters can, usually, be scraped off (at this point) with the edge of your thumbnail alone!
I would guess I have removed over 1000 of these decals...and only hacd to take a razor blade to a mere few (also depended on the holder and the use of adhesive remover---to loosen up the decal)!
Hoped some of this helped you out.
