  • Scratches

New member that would like recommendation on fixing marks in paint caused by bicycle handles, bicycle grips and scooter handles. Marks are about 2 inches long and have a white color on black paint. Another issue I have is love bugs imbedded into the black paint on the hood of a Chevy Blazer. It is a cheap aftermarket paint job. What is the recommendation for removal and bringing back the paint to life?

    Thanks!

    Re: Scratches

Quickest thing you can do and fairly inexpensive would be to go to any auto parts store and pick up a tube of ScratchX and also buy a couple soft foam wax applicator pads and then after washing or wiping the car clean, take the ScratchX and work it over the defects and marring you want to remove.

Afterwards apply a coating of wax as paint cleaners like ScratchX are not protective products, they are defect removal products and need to be followed with a coating of wax or a paint sealant.

Also just to note, clear coat paints can be hard to completely remove deep scratches completely out of but while you may not be able to completely remove a scratch you can often times improve the scratch to the point it's hard to see.

          welcome!

The white scratches may be just surface scuffing from the grips.

Follow Mikes info and it should look much better.
