  • Hello from the professional? detailer

    Hey there,

Just started my own detailng business this year. I've done about 15 details professionally. Still trying to figure out what I'm doing. Sifting through the masses of information is overwhelming. Hopefully I'll survive it. So far all of my customers have been very happy and have no idea that I'm not sure what I'm doing. Detailing entails a lot more than I thought it did. I've tried to keep it fairly simple so far. I experiment on my black Grand Prix occassionally which helps... although it could be looking a lot better. It needs to be deswirled... and all I've bought so far is a really cheap DA. I'm thinking about buying that start up kit from ADS, but I haven't completely committed myself to this. So far just part time... we'll see how it goes. I'd like to make a go of it doing this if I thought I could make good money doing it. It's tough times in Michigan right now and a lot of people are more worried about how they're goin to pay for gas than how they are going to keep their car clean.

Wish me luck! Comments and advice are welcome!

Welcome to MOL.I tried to start my own business but it did not go to well. I lost to the other detailer who has a truck with all the pro tools and all I had was the back of my trunk with all my detailing stuff.Go for it! the detailing business is a great business.

Best of luck on your new endeavor. I have heard the news reports about the state economy of Michigan. It is a shame. Please ask any questions, there are plenty of members that have a wealth of information.

Good Luck, and welcome to MOL!

It's the little details that seperates the men from the boys IMO. There is cleaning a car, and then there is detailing a car. Anyone can learn to polish, it's all about finding those little things that takes the job up a notch!

                Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Lot's to learn and like the rest of us, you'll likely never know it all...

                Here's an old saying...

"Try to learn from other's mistakes, you might not live long enough to make them all on your own"

That's where discussion forums come in handy, lot's of people sharing their experiences including mistakes and how they successfully recovered from them.
