My loyalty to Meguiar's began back in 1996 when I bought my first car, a 1995 Super Black/black Nissan 300ZX. One of the service techs walked by for some idle chit-chat and mentioned that Meguiar's cleaner-wax was the best.
Since then, I've been a loyal Meguiar's user. The real test was back in 2002 when I bought a 1994 Aztec Red Sentra SE-R from a lady that didn't know what she owned. Exterior (and interior) was neglected. I made it glow in the dark with Meguiar's Paint Cleaner, Polish, Scratch-X, and Gold Class. Scratch-X was the hero of the day. After I applied it on one panel, I wanted to Scratch-X everything.
The second real test was just 3 months ago when I replaced that Sentra SE-R with a 1995 Cosmos Black M3. Same deal -- the exterior and interior was neglected. Did the same thing, but version 2.0 -- Paint Cleaner, Polish, Scratch-X, and NXT, but applied w/ a Porter-Cable. The results are unreal. I got compliments w/ the SE-R and now w/ this M3.
I converted a fellow M3 owner over to Meguiar's when he wouldn't stop whining about a small hairline scratch his regular detail guy put on his fender. After a couple of hand-buffed passes with Scratch-X, he now washes/waxes his M3 w/ NXT.
My favorite products: Scratch-X and NXT. My newest favorite product: Plast-X. The M3 has plastic headlight lenses and Scratch-X + PC did a good job of removing the yellowing. Then I found Plast-X at an AutoZone in a neighboring suburb. I just want to Plast-X everything plastic now!
Actually, I did cheat one time. I did use Mother's claybar kit, but only because the AutoZone did not carry the Meguiar's kit. I'm all about local availability. If I got to order it online or go through a regional sales rep, then forget it. The only thing I order online are the foam pads.
Anyway, I've been lurking on and off for a while and figured I'd finally register.
