  • Greetings from Fort Collins, CO!

Hi all. I'm a newbie...total newbie. Already discovered ADS and have come to love the Meguiar's products. Like most people I've used Meguiars consumer products for years and now that I have discovered the professional line I'm completely inspired.

I'm now at the stage where I'm building my stockpile of goods. My current dilemma is that I'm trying to determine whether to spend the extra money on a G110 or save the $$$ and by a PC. Any suggestions?

Ok, so what drove me to this insanity that we all love? My car was destroyed in a tornado a month ago and I purchased a used car to replace it. Black 2006 Volvo S60. It has swirls on the hood and trunk and is in need of some TLC. I have the interior standing stall, but need to finish up the exterior. I will get this figured out and hopefully it will look great!

Thank you to all who help us out.

    Jeff

Wll, the G110 is the new version of the PC/G100.... These links will explain what to use with both starting off:

Rotary vs. PC vs. Regular Orbital Buffer

Recommended Products - G100a Dual Action Polisher

Using the G-100 to remove swirls with the Professional Line

Thank you Murr! I had seen one of those posts in my hours of reading prior to deciding to post. I appreciate the great listing for me. Sounds like most of you "experienced" users have gone with the G-100 or G-110. That should probably tell me something.

      Again, thank you very much!

Can't seem to post this enough and it's easy to think that because I'm a Meguiar's employee that what I'm about to post is just marketing but it's not... it's reality and I've used both tools as much as anyone and in all likelihood more than anyone...

The Meguiar's G110 and G220 offers a lot more power than the Porter Cable units. What this means to you is better and faster swirl removal because the pad will continue to rotate even when it becomes wet with product.

The Porter Cable unit doesn't have the power that our units have and as your foam buffing pads become wet or saturated with product they will stop rotating and just vibrate or jiggle against the paint surface.

If you're trying to remove swirls and scratches then you're trying to remove paint. Paint is best removed when the foam buffing pad is rotating on the surface not just merely vibrating against it.

Your choice but the differences in power are huge and they make the most difference with how much time you have to invest in removing swirls and how many pads you'll need to use for the job.

Welcome to MOL! I live in Cheyenne and am sorry to hear about you losing your car during those tornados awhile back.

Try out the G110...those few extra bucks are worth it.

Thank you everyone! I'll go with the G-110. The fact that Meguiar's stands behind the units with a lifetime warranty is very impressive as well.

CWM3, thank you for the kind words. It actually worked out well for us. Our insurance company (like a good neighbor...) took care of us and treated us very fair. The settlement went well and we found a great car at a great price.

Now I've developed a new interest and have the "OPPORTUNITY" to spend lots of money obsessing over the appearance. It's a lot of fun and it sure does give me pride to keep our cars looking nice. This just takes it to a whole new level and I'm really excited about it.

              Thanks for your replies.
