I use isopropyl alcohol and a soft MF towel for tree sap. The isopropyl seems to melt it away. You should follow up with a wax or even something like ColorX since it will remove any wax on the car.

Well, besides giving a good car wash, clay is also an option.

        Here's some options...

        Car washing
        Detailing Clay
        Paint Cleaners
        Mineral Spirits
        Plastic Razor Blades

          What about body solvent?

I had a Jeep that had it on thick, the clay only stuck to the sap so I had to use tar remover and rubbed and rubbed till it came off. Then I had to run the polisher over it to cut out the scratches I left.
