  • Hello Everyone

    Morning .

I am from NC in the area near ECU . I have been reading a lot of posts here There seems to be a wealth of information for the DIY to keep their ride looking good . I always have used said products from time to time . I have the 3 step system but have not used the products yet . I have used the quick detailer and found it to be easier and better to use than x brand (u know the names ) . I recently had my 5th gen accord painted and will be asking for some advise at it is rough on the surface . It was painted with Nason/Dupont paint ? Three base coats and 3 clear with flakes . I wonder if there is not enough clear here . So again hello and have a great day .

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

3 coats of clear is usually plenty.

If your brand new paint job feels rough or bumpy it could be it has overspray or dry spray that happened at the body shop. This is pretty common as body shops spray paint all the time and it can drift in the air and land on your new car before you pick it up and take it home.

No problemo... you'll want to use some detailing clay to clay the paint, this will remove the overspray.

      Welcome to MOL.

Claying that new paint job will really benefit you. Our Neon was oversprayed bad when we bought it new, the claybar almost turned orange and black as the rail dust/transporting grime was thick.

      Have fun.

        Thanks ,

If I can remember where I put that clay bar ? (LOL) . With the clay bar isn't some type of detailer spray used ? When I said recently painted , I meant I got it back this Tuesday .Does the detailer spray have wax in it ? I thought the clay bar has to have some type of lubricant to be used properly .

            Re: Hello Everyone

The Smooth Surface Clay kit comes with a bottle of Quick Detailer to lubricate, but I would buy a second bottle. Better to have some extra, dont want to skimp.

The QD has no wax, and would be fresh paint safe.

The Ultimate Quik Detailer has a polymer in it, so it is not meant for claying, and may not be fresh paint safe, not sure.
