  • From Bradford, UK ... with ... erm, Love?

    Hi guys! Newbie here!

My name is Paul - I'm a hobby detailer from Bradford in the UK. I look after our two classic SAAB 900 cars and a few of our family's cars. I love trying out new products and I'm starting to get the hang of using Meguiars products particularly on our black car. I'll be looking for advice on how to get the best from my white car, too.

    Some pictures? Sure:

Hi Orca, and welcome from another "newbie" introducing himself today. Lovely SAABs! Care for them well. By the way, I have friends in Bradford, and acquaintances not too far from you in Harrowsgate. I myself lived in Merseyside a number of years back but am back in the Southeast USA now. Hope we both learn a lot and do well here and in the carparks.
      Michael
      Thanks for all the help!

            Welcome to Meguiar's Online! :wave

Those older Saab's are interesting cars, used to detail for a guy that owned a few models like your white one and also a Sonnet which was a first place show winner.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I'm quite a regular over on Detailing World forums, but since I have landed on Meguiars products as the sole products for our black car I thought it best to sign up here and read up on best usage by people who use them regularly ... without getting confused with too many suggestions for all sorts of other products. "Find something you like and use it often" is a really good tag line.

I am maintaining my cars by hand - I have ScratchX #83 #80 #9 #7 #20 #21 #26 & #135 to make up combinations that suit the need of the car. I use Hot Shine Tyre Gloss Spray on my tyres and this also works well on the plasticised door cards. I'm looking for a way of keeping the leather and the fabric roof in good condition (the blac one is a convertible ... full picture attached), so I will be taking note of what people recommend in the forums. The white car is quite easy to maintain with the AG SRP & CG Jetseal combo, but I will keep an eye out for advice about getting the best from white - especially from the products I already have and one or two that would expand that list.

I am an absolute SAAB fanatic - I love the Classic 900. I am the owner and maintainer of the Classic 900 Special Editions webpage at: http://www.pjgh.co.uk/saab/specials/ and run a little weblog about all manner of Classic 900 miscellanea: http://c900se.pjgh.co.uk

... and Mike ... it's Sonett (from the Swedish Sa Natt ... "So Nice") ... LOL ... I taught Mike something!!!

Cool! Thanks for sharing... we have one pictures of the Sonett we buffed out for a Saab show a number of years ago, we'll try to post a picture of it.

Very interesting car. V-4 engine correct?

Again, welcome to the forum, we're glad to have you aboard.

That would be great - I'll look out for it. We did not get the Sonett in the UK, but there are two fully restored models that "so the shows" that are really good. It did indeed use the Ford V4 engine ... it sounds great (like a mini-V8 ) and looks every bit the 1970s cheese wedge - certainly a cult classic and one which is often lost amongst similar British and Japanese shaped cars of the era.

Hi Michael - Thanks for the personal welcome from another new guy. It is fascinating that wherever you go on the internet, you're not too far from someone from the other side of the world who has friends in your home town.

                    See you around ...
