  • New Vette member from San Diego

I'm a new member and belong to the North Coast Vettes Club. I have two Vettes and an old Mustang. They all need paint care and I want to put the best wax on them. What's good for 35 year old paint?

    Welcome to MOL!

You have come to the right place to learn to take care of your cars. Do you have specific things you are trying to fix in the paint. Or is it just a general maintenance thing?

Can't wait to see some pics of your cars!

      Welcome!

Great to have another Vette person onboard.

Tell us more about your vettes. Repaint? Survivor cars? Original? Restomod?

If it's original vette paint then it might be pretty thin in spots so you will need to be careful.

You should try to make it up to Irvine (Meguiars HQ) for a saturday class. Keep posted on MOL for available dates.

Re: New Vette member from San Diego

Thanks for the warm welcome. My 67 Vette does not have the original paint. It was painted with something they called Emeron. I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling. After 36 years it still looks good. The 64 Mustang has been repainted recently with clear coat material in the paint. It's been two years since being painted and still looks good. Maaco did the work. It was a daily driver and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it's paint. The 01 Vette's paint is still show quality. I'll send photos as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Welcome. Question did you prep the mustang yourself before you gave it to Maaco?

My 67 is a big block coupe, white/white. I did the prep on the Mustang. Took all the chrome off too.
