  • New Member but old Meguiar's user!

Well I just recently found out about this site a few days ago. Been Lurking a bit and have already found lots of useful info.

Bought a PC 7424 a couple years ago and have only used it once. Was very happy but not sure if I actually ever used it right. I have used Meg products for years. Have tried other products and found myself going back to purchase Meg.

My name is Franc, live in Seattle, WA. I purchased a Nighthawk Black Pearl 06 Civic SI last year. Previous cars were 2000 Integra GSR (Flamenco Black Pearl) and then a 2006 Nissan Titan (Galaxy Black). So its obvious that I love black cars. But with the weather here in the NW and loving black cars, the swirls are coming back to haunt me.

My first step is to order (2) W8006 to use with either #83 or #80. Then (2) W9006 to use with NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (Have a bottle of NXT Generation Wax so ill try that for now). My accomplishments are to get rid of those nasty swirls. They range from very light on some areas and very heavy on others.

So let me know what you guys think of my plan and what I can do or change to get those ugly swirls out.

Ill try to get some pictures up soon of the car.

    Franc

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Lived in Oregon most of my life and have an 04 Pilot in the Nighthawk Black Perl, so know where you're at.

You should be able to remove the swirls easily with the M80 and the W-8006, but best thing to do after introducing yourself in this forum is to post questions and detailing related topics in forums like Detailing 101 otherwise this forum becomes Detailing 101.

Yep... rains a lot in Washington and Oregon, have to really like the rain...

Hey thanks Mike, and it sure does rain a lot in the NW. But I sure will ask lots of questions since i have a lot of em. Just for right now, I am reading and searching threads to get info. It looks like most of the questions I have has already been covered in previous threads.

Are you an 8thcivic.com member? I own an 07 TW Si myself. I'm very involved in the Civic community here in FL.
Having owned an 06 NBP Si myself, I agree with Mike on the issue w/ the swirls. Honda's paint on our cars is very soft and swirls are thus very easily removed Just don't use the burgundy pad (7006 I think). Always start with the least amount of abrasion and work up if you aren't obtaining the desired results or it's taking too long.
An 8006 pad and M80 should work great for you. I've removed swirls on several Si's and that's generally worked out. I've even had good results w/ M9 which I think is a little less aggressive than the M80 or about the same. I've had to step up to M83 on one NBP Si before. You shouldn't need anything like M85 though.
Good luck. Be sure to get some before and after pictures for us.

A 9006 pad is far too aggressive. Always start with the least amount of abrasion and work up if you aren't obtaining the desired results or it's taking too long.

Oh and thanks for pointing that out. lol. I was thinking of the 7006 pad when I said 9006 pad. You don't want to use the 7006 (burgundy color) pad on our car as it shouldn't be needed.
The 9006 is great for the NXT or other LSP's.
