  • New member sayin hello!

Hello all, I found this forum through Autopia, Ive been a devoted Maguire's fan for about a decade now. I tried my hand at detailing for profit and still do side jobs, for most of the "turds" Ive polished I used a chemical wax by a company called Pro Chem out of Florida here, but for my ride I have used NOTHING BUT Maguire's! I recommend it to everybody, even my mom owns just about every product in the consumer line.

I recently purchased a 6" palm sized orbital buffer from WalMart for bout $20, it claims about 4000 rpms but has no adjustable speed. Im relatively new to buffers as the grinder type and its damaging effects on paint has always made me gun shy of buffers. I also recently bought an new car, and with detailing for so long, Ive always longed for a new car so I could over maintain the finish and not have to deal with a previous owners bad habits.

Here are a couple pics of my ride, these are before the buffer with a couple coats of cleaner wax and the Gold Class.

Its a 2003 Suzuki Aerio SX, nothin major, minor mods, very clean, new and its mine!

So recently I used the cleaner wax, got the #2 polish(3 coats), followed last night by some #7(1 coat) and tonight will follow that up with the High tech yellow wax. Im hoping to get a couple of nice reflection shots this weekend.

Okay, some questions. Which pads am I supposed to use. I mean the terry cloth bonnet seems the choice to apply, and then wipe off by hand. Then I usually buff the car with the wool bonnet. I dont really know which bonnets to use when and could use some advice on them. Second question, where can I find a synthetic sealant? I cant find one in any store, #20 and the Hi tech are the only commercial products I can find around here.

One last thing, how can I get my signture to post, I realize its a gif, but its small! Come on mods, help me out here.

Is there any way I can use my gif as a signature? Or am I missin it?

Nice car, that color is awesome My advice is to invest in a Porter Cable polisher. It's practically foolproof and you can get your yellow looking like this: Yellow

Now why would I or better yet, why should I buy another buffer? I mean is there something wrong with mine? If anything Id buy the cordless Mag's model, but really dude I got mods to make and that $300 can do alot more than polish my car! I mean thats tire cash! A Spring kit, strut tower braces or wicked graffics kit! Why should I throw money away on something that has already produced stunning results?

Just a suggestion if you're happy with the polisher you have that's all that matters. If you ever consider trying to make some extra money though, give the PC a thought.

BTW Props on picking an Aerio to mod...not too many people have the guts to be different.

Stick with the terry, the wool is too coarse for final steps (applying wax/sealants)

Wow are you like the only person on this forum or are the members too busy with their own stuff? Maybe its my choice of buffer? Maybe I should have bought a Honda or an American car?

Thanks for the response Don! The terry cloth one worked perfect with the Hi Tech. Thanks again!

This forum is still fairly new (only a couple of weeks old) and there have been a few (VERY) intense discussions on Autopia and elswhere that have been keeping the regulars here busy.

                  Hi SB
I agree with Don on the PC, but there's nothing wrong with what you've got for now...I have a Sears Orbital, but I rarely ever use it since I was introduced to the PC...To me there is no comparison between the two...If you decide to buy a PC, you'll never look back...

How does "maguire" compare to Meguiars??

Is it another brand or you can spell. If you can't spell just look in the top left hand corner of your screen.

                        Hi Short BuSX,

I am busy on Saturday's holding clinics. So it's hard to post while buffing out cars.

It's not your choice of buffer. But your choice of buffer is limited to what it can do. Dom was only trying to share with you the polisher of choice by serious enthusasts and pro's alike.

The one you have purchased should work for what your doing however. I would say you will be hard pressed to find anyone here at Meguair's Online that doesn't like your taste in cars. Meguiar's is all about people and their passion for their cars whatever they may be.

Thank you for your response Don, I appreciate your helping out a new member.

Thanks for the response, the spelling leason, and the compliments. Sorry I was unaware how new this forum was.

What kinda pad can I use to buff after the wax or polish has been applied? Or should I only use the buffer for applying?

The high tech wax worked great, but after this hot weekend here in Florida, i doubt its gonna last. I wiped my finish with my finger and it was like it was melting, it was the next day, so maybe it still needed to cure. Can I apply NTX over the High Tech? And from reading the bottle it almost sounds as if its a polish, sealant and a wax. Sounds almost to good to be true.

Well here are so pics of the results I got this weekend. Im really impressed with how it turned out. Ive never had a finish turn out quite like this, and I owe it all to the stuff I learned readin the pages here and Better Car Care. Oh yeah, Meguiar's and my cheap buffer too!

Wax , due to it's very nature (look at a candle when left in the heat) can soften and 'melt' like you've noticed. Heat is a conventional wax's natural enemy. A synthetic (NXT, #20) is affected to a MUCH lesser degree.

For removal, most of us prefer by hand with a micro fiber or a soft, plush (fluffy) terrycloth towel. From all the 'testing' being done, the NXT does appear to be a "All-in-One" type product.

Again congrats on your excellent finish, and keep reading...it's amazing how much unfo even an 'old pro' can pick up.
