  • Dazed and Confused

Hi there! Just wondering if I can get some help. I have a Chevy S-10 Crew cab P/U Truck, almost 5 yrs old, paint is prety good, not as new, but the usual 5 year deterioration. Well kept using Maguiar's No 7 and No 26.

Through the years I have used a truck cover to protect the paint finish from the sun and other weather elements when I am at work, as my office is nearby a power plant, so sulfur dioxide stains are very rare in the paint finish. Also the truck cover protects it from bird droppings, which basically has been very rare.

Recently I washed my truck and used the No 7 and No 26 products and later that week, there were some bird droppings in the hood of my truck, to be more specific 12 of them marks. This basically happened on a Thrusday, and the next Staurday I washed my truck using Meguiar's car wash and low and behold, the droppings were removed but I still have twelve stains in my hood, about two to three inches in diameter.

I tried to use number 7 and then tried no 26, but the stains were still there. Also tried to use Scratch X, but no luck as well.

Any Suggestions as of how to remove those stains? I have not seen anything like this before in more than 30 years detailing cars.

when using scratch-x did you use plenty of passion?

What it Means to Remove a Scratch

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

    hope that helps.

The reason #7 didn't work is because it is a polish that contains no abbrasives.

ScratchX can be very effective if you put the effort into it.

Try ScratchX again. If that doesn't work, pick up a bottle of Fine Cut Cleaner (#2?). Fine cut is more abbrasive, but can also be used by hand. I'm a big fan of it.

Can you post pictures so we can analyze the damage?

            Re: Dazed and Confused

Besides using passion with the scratchx don't be upset if it takes more than 1 pass to see some results.

besides the passion and amount of passes, don't be upset if it takes an hour to say do one side or the hood by itself.

I posted the pics for others to see:

I'm having trouble viewing the spot. I can see a few hazy areas, but I'm not really sure. If these hazy areas are the problem, Fine Cut Cleaner should work well.

Hey Guys, the few hazy areas are the spots. Today I used scratchX and they were removed. Excellent suggestion!!!! Did do a lot of passion and dedication with it.

                      Again Thanks!
