  • Greetings from Wilmington, NC

Hello to all. New to the forum, and like the format, layout, etc. I hope this is the only place i'll need for my ride.

My problem..I have a Mag Red 01 Vette with "baked" ? on water spots. My son washed it for me recently so he could use it for a few hours. He washed in the sun, didn't dry properly, and put some "Ice" polish over it.

What can i do to get thru the polish, and remove the water stains?? And what can i do to prevent it from happening again? I also have a few swirl marks, etc. I'd love to get rid of.

Its cruisin time here in the Carolinas, and i gotta make my baby look sweet.

Thanks to you all in advance for the replies.

      Welcome to MOL!

I addition to what BlueZero posted... one thing I do to prevent water spots, after you wash and dry the vehicle follow up with a Quik Detailer like NXT Generation Speed Detailer -or- Quik Detailer, both perform the same function its a matter of personal preference on what you use. Mist the product on and wipe off with a quality towel like a Supreme Shine Microfiber this will remove any remaining water spots and leave a nice clean surface.

Thanks to you all for the replies..After seeing the info from the above links, it appears i have type 2 spots. I have never buffed out a car before, and don't think i want to practice on my vette, so i guess it'll be by hand.

I tried clay bar, but it didn't touch them. If i ever get it right, i'll post some pics..

          Thanks again

I'm also on the coast and enjoy the summer sun and friendly folks of our great state. Hope to continue to hear from you. Have a great day.

The Wilmington/Wrightsville area is one of my favorite places in the world. I spend a good amount of time there over the summer time enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of that area. I hope you can get the vette looking right again, make sure you teach your son how to properly wash the vette before he uses it next time, sort of a right of passage. If you can't get it right, maybe I can help you out with my PC this summer when I am down there.
