  • Hello from down under

Hi, my name is Graeme. I am from Western Australia.
I just bought a new car and decided I wanted something to keep it in good nick, I heard about Meguiars and decided to give it a try. I must say I am very pleased with the results, although after doing a bit of reading here I need to redo my car properly.
Here it is after a wash with Soft Wash, then Quick Detail and Quick Wax

Hi and thank you for the welcome

There certainly is a lot of info here, I can see I will be spending quite a bit of time here reading up on everything.

I thought I had my car looking good but after reading a few posts I realize it can look better with just a little more time and effort.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have lots to learn, and I thought I was doin' alright! I'm going to be showing my car next spring, so I have some time to get the paint finish to absolute perfection.

Is the car you are driving a Hyundai? Looks like the Hyundai logo on the grille there.

yes is a Hyundai Elantra. I bought it 3 weeks ago, I had a 2003 Elantra but this is as different as chalk and cheese. They have gone big on safety and features this time around.

Yeah, the Hyundai's have come a long way, safety-wise. Hey, my kids want to know if you all drive on the right or left side of the road in Australia. I told them I'd ask you.

We are opposite to the US. I see a few left hand drive cars here from time to time and wonder if its hard to get used to

Hey, I just saw all of your pics in the Gallery section here. I really like that color. My car is in the Gallery section as well, in my album, jcrCDM. Take a peek. What do you think?

I'm not too familiar with this yet, how do I find your images?

                      This should work...

                      Click "Gallery" above.
                      Click "member galleries"
Click "j" in the alphabetical listing
Click on the actual picture shown with my name JRauCDM on it. I think the picture is my car's engine.

That will open my album up, and you simply click each picture to view it. I have 11 pics, I think.

                      Good luck.

Thats one big car and the engine is huge. I like big cars, but the price of fuel now makes them quite expensive to run. Although something like that I would convert to gas.

We pay an average of $1.15 per liter here for petrol and 55c for gas.
How much is it over there?

My car gets about 22 - 24 miles per gallon on the highway. Central Iowa has fairly inexpensive (relatively speaking) gasoline. I pay about $2.08/gallon right now. I'm sorry I can't find the formula to convert gallons to liters. The engine is actually somewhat small for that car, but that's ok for me, since I try very hard to get the best gas mileage out of it that I can. It's a 307 cubic inch throttle body injection engine, also known as the 5.0 liter engine. It produces only 170 horsepower. The optional 5.7 Litre produce 185 horsepower and was a quicker automobile.

The car itself is 221 inches overall length, wheelbase of 121.5 inches, 76.5 inches wide and 57.4 inches high.

Its VERY roomy though for the size.
Geez you are lucky with your petrol, one of your gallons at $2.08 = about $4.35 here.
