  • Hello from Orlando Florida

I am very impressed with all the knowledgeable people on Meguiars website. From now nothing but Meguiars for me.

Just bought a 98 Land Rover and the roof is very very oxidized. Although very impressed with ScratchX, I think I need to bring out the big guns for this battle. I was thinking of using the Heavy Cut Cleaner. Can someone let me know what the best solution is? I was even thinking of using some type of abrasive. Help

    Hi jmorter,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Are you working by hand? If so ScratchX is as aggressive as you want to get and as aggressive as Meguiar's gets.

If you're working by machine you'll have more options.

Just to note, if the clear coat paint on the roof of 98 Land Rover is whitish or milky looking, then chances are that the clear coat paint has deteriorated past the point of no return an no chemical from any company will fix it.

Read this thread and click on some of the links I've inserted,

Yes, I do have a polisher that I bought from Harbor Freight tools but I do not know if it is good or not yet. Do you think I should just try the Heavy Cut cleaner and where can I get that, I know the Walmart near my house does not have it. I think my roof does have clear coat failure but maybe my hood is salvagable. I read the links you sent me and there was a guy on there with a 98 Land Rover with the same problem! HMMM By the way thank you for the quick response.

I live in Oviedo and run a fairly successful side bussiness detailing cars. I can show you how to use your buffer if you want...

This one was tough for a couple reasons. 1) After I washed it and clayed it, it had significant marring and tons of RIS (random isolated scratches). These where not visible until close inspection 2) The owner is excepting a baby (actually the baby should be here already) so I wanted to step it up. No infant can cruise in

1989 BMW 325 Orginal 18 year old single stage red. The paint was heavily oxidized, swirled and scratched. It took about 10 hours but here is a pictoral of the extreme makeover... Wash with Hyperwash Clay using Quik Clay using Meguiars Last Touch cut 1:1 for lube 2 passes via rotary/7006/M#84 @ 1800 RPM 1 pass via

The owner had recently taken his H3 off roading and the results were large scratches running along the sides, over the hood and roof and the tail lights. The paint on this truck was hard, because even though I couldn't catch the scratches with my nail, it took 3 passes with the Hitachi at 1500 RPM using #84/9006 to get them out

The owner of this black 2005 Vette was leaving town for a couple of days and wanted me to detail his baby. So he turned over his keys to his 530 hp (yes its modified) car to me, and told me to work my magic on it. He is the second owner, and is generally a good owner who takes care of his baby, and uses Meguiars products.

Heres some links to cars have done...
