My previous car care history was one of benign neglect, maintain a protective layer of dirt and grime was my style.
But as the owner of a new 4Runner, I thought I'd maybe wash it more often than previous cars. Brush on a stick and maybe wipe down the interior. Wax it? Bah! Clearcoats can do without waxing! After some time on the 4Runner forum, acquaintance was made with Meguiar products. OK ... maybe a basic wax isn't too much, soon a can of Cleaner Wax came home with me along with some microfiber towels (anything less may as well be sandpaper). That was as far as I'd go, let's not get crazy about it. It wasn't long after that the NXT Gen Tech Wax sounded like a better idea and it looks really nice on it. But let's not go crazy yes? Soon enough the 4Runner was getting washed every couple of weeks and now has two coats of the synthetic wax on it. We're not quite around the bend yet, it's just a wash and wax. Then I had hear about the quick detail spray from a friend and of course there is an equivalent for the Tech Wax ... and now ... the 4Runner gets a quick weekly wipedown ...and...the detail spray after washing. Of course by now there is also the NXT whatever interior treatments.
But, I wasn't gonna worry about wheels and tires too much. (So he said) ...
My wife's Odyssey had a paint job that virtually defines benign neglect, so it got the Cleaner Wax treatment today. It looks good, surprisingly almost like new other than the myriad of parking lot dings. But the wheels ... the wheels have years of brake dust and grime that just won't come loose... what to do? what to do?
Oh well, as long as I am at Walmart and have to buy wheel cleaner, there's this tire shine sitting right next to it.
Gahhh! I'm Meguiar's best new customer.
