  • Another one from Canada

Well good day eh. Thought I say Hi eh so ah hi. Eh.

Well the igloo has melted and the time has come for all the sweet rides to come out of winter hibernation. Ok so that was lame. My names Rob and I'm from Red Deer, Alberta, yup you guesed it, Canada.

I've just stared using Mequiar's( full Time) and am ABSOULUTLY sold on their products. I use to use Car Brite and nothing else but I have switched for good. I want to say part of the reason for the switch is Barry Meguiar. I've read several articals by Mr. Mequiar and am very impressed with his passison for the detail industry. Up here we get to see "Car Crazy" on Speed channel and I never miss an episode. Way to go Mequiar's!

I've been detailing for about six years (I'm 41) and am in the prosses of hopfully opening a small shop soon.
If Mequiar's ever has a training session in western Canada please count me in.

I'd also like to say hi and and a thank-you to Mike Phillips for unknownly reignighting the fire under me to bring back the passion I had lost for polishing. I came across his work online oneday and was totally blown away! He comes across as the true profesional he is, in is work and his life. And I've never met him personally! I'm sure the people that have crossed paths with him are truly blessed. Thanks Mike.
    Rob

            Hi Rob,

            Welcome to Meguiar's Online

Thank you for the kind words, it's fun having a job you really enjoy, I've spent time doing both types, jobs I didn't like and jobs I did like and I've found my calling in life is answering questions on discussion forums and teaching people how to polish paint as well as practicing the craft itself.

Kind of simple as far as all the possible careers opportunities and paths through life there are but it's my passion.

I'm thankful Barry gave me a chance to work for him and I'm also thankful for all the people that put in a good word to Barry on my behalf including Gordon Apker, (one of the founders of Shakies Pizza), and the previous owner of this car, which after seeing it in his collection it instantly became my favorite car of all time.

Here's a thread about the above car...

1954 OLDSMOBILE F-88 GM CONCEPT CAR

And Terry Cook, the designer of Scrape, a radically customized 1939 Lincoln Zephyr of whom I was working with while working for Bill Stewart a number of years ago showing people how to use the Absorber at Car Shows.

And to think my job at Meguiar's all started with this car and this can of wax back in 1978 as a sunny young buck in high school always fooling around with cars.

            But I digress...

It's nice to meet you Rob!

My ride is a 2001 Monte Carlo SS. I'll post a pic tomorrow when the suns up lol. It's white, easy to detail

Wow it must be something to live and grow up in California. Those are some very cool cars. Growing up in Nova Scotia we have winter 8 months of the year and here in Alberta not much better, so you can see the amount of detailing as a "summer" job as a kid was pretty short.
I can only dream of working on cars of that statue. I hate doing the moms and pops daily drivers but I put my heart and soul into every one I do.
I wish I could of read your words Mike when I was younger, because you do give me and I'm sure many, many others motivation and advice I have never seen before in the detailing world.
