  • Pesky tree dropping spots

I am trying to get some brown tree dropping marks off my car finish..Meguiars cleaner wax doesn't seem to quite do the job..Any suggestions..

The regular Cleaner/Wax (red bottle) is actualy quite mild. Are these spots like bumps on the paint, or more like stains in the paint?

Either way, the best thing to do is to start with the proper 5-step process, and then if that basic approach doesnt work, we can go from there.

Be sure to give this a read:

    Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

    Step 1 Wash

    Step 2 Clean

    Step 3 Polish

    Step 4 Protect

    Step 5 Maintain

So you will want to do a process like this to start off with:

    1. Wash - Gold Class, Nxt wash, etc.

    2. Clay - Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay

    3. Clean - Deep Crystal #1 is a good paint cleaner by hand, that will be a bit better tha nthe Cleaner/Wax. It is still mild, but a better place to start.

    3. Polish - Deep Crystal #2 is a nice easy to use polish.

    4. Wax - Your favorite wax is fine.

If you are a fan of the Cleaner/Wax, you can always use it after the paint cleaner. I like to top a cleaner/wax with a regular wax, but that is up to you.

Clay Magic isnt a bad choice if you can't get Meguiars clay. Dont get the Mothers Clay.

I have seen the Smooth Surface Clay appearing in more stores which is good, but you still may have to order it online if yo uwant the Meguiars one.

I deal with the same thing. The next morning after I wash it, sap or whatever is all over. I clay it, it really works.

I did see a place online where you could buy 100 or 200 gram blocks..I passed up the mothers kit for the claymagic..Didn't know there was a problem with the mothers stuff..

I used the Mothers clay on my new car. Because I had a rough spot on the driver side door and it took the roughness off. The local auto part store's didn't sell Meguiar's clay bar. So I had to get the other brand. It would be nice if they did sell Meguiar's clay bar.

If anyone is interested, Eastwood sells the clay in medium or fine. The price doesn't look to bad either..

I wouldnt call it a problem, but the Mothers doesnt seem to get as much stuff.

autodetailingsolutions.com is one of the favorite places to shop online around here, but of course you can look anywhere.

The Professional Mild Clay is a little more agreesive than the Smooth Surface Clay, but not by too much, and you could use it if you will need to do lots of claying. Then just buy your Quick Detailer, or other lubricant, seperatley.

Remember that clay can remove wax, so after claying yo uwould need to clean and wax, or at least a cleaner wax.
