  • new guy in a bagged GMC

Hey everyone, my name is Del, I live in central KY. Ive used Mequiars products for some time now. Just got my truck out of the body shop, its now freshly painted and now I'm ready to tear into the interior. Its a 2003 GMC Sierra, single cab, short bed, black with custom flames. Shaved taillights, shaved tailgate handle, filled in stake pocket holes, painted door handles, smoothed in steel rollpan, LED taillights, billet grill, billet in the front bumper, steel cowl hood. It also has a complete air ride suspension consisting of parts for Air Ride Technologies, KP Components, Airlift. The truck lays frame over 22" Intro Twisted Vista Wheels wrapped in BFG G-Force tires. All the needed tubbing was done to get the truck down on the frame.

          Verrryy nice.

Can I ask why air over hydro? We don't get a choice down here since Hydraulic Suspension isn't street legal, but I thought it was in the US and you guys loved the stuff.

Hydro's have their place but in my opinion air is much better. I like the ride and the dependability of my air ride set up. Ive also just never been a fan of hydro's. To me hydro set ups belong on big body cars, not trucks.

Fair enough. As I mentioned before we don't get hydros down here, so I didn't know it had ride issues. Anyway, once again, nice truck.

It hauls things every once in a while. The cleaning box, a couple of chairs, cooler, and the EZ up.

I do all my "work" stuff with the other truck.

I'll be the first to admit, I know nothing about the bagged slammed truck scene!

Is it safe to have such a positive camber on the front wheels? Do you go through rubber REALLY fast? Is it that low when you drive or do the airbags fill up to get you to ride height?

I'm not poking fun at all... just hoping to learn a little bit about your truck.

That camber is most likely adjusted when he raises the truck. At the "dumped" or "slammed" setting it needs to be that aggressive to clear the arches. Since it uses air and not steel for springs, he can adjust the ride height on the fly (here its a favourite for the boys in blue to ticket you if you do it while the car is moving).

Most air suspension is four way adjustable - judging from the name of the company that did yours flamedsierra I'd say it would be? Do you have presets on it as well (stargazing, single side slam etc)?

I use the Air Ride Tech. Ride Pro E system to adjust the air level in the airbags at each corner. It is 4 way adjustable to where I can drop in corner or side individualy. My only preset is for ride height, which is just barely untucking the tires.

You are also right with the first paragraph. The camber is corrected once the truck is back to ride height. I do go through tires a little quicker than usual but that is do to the fact that I cruise with the truck extremely low alot of times. Also your right about those in the blue uniforms, they love pullin me over for anything and everything, but have yet to give me a ticket.

Probably just wanted to have a look at it. If it were my job to sit beside a street all day and point a hair dryer at people I'd want to pull _something_ over that day.

Sick bro! Next project is the body drop! Reminds me of the days when I had my 99 S-10 Extreme with a 2 inch drop. I wanted the air ride system but I sold the truck.
