Is This an Early Stage of Clear Coat Failure?

The horizontal surfaces on my car (hood, roof and trunk) have a cloudy appearance when viewed at certain angles. Please see attached images.

I tried using Ultimate Compound Polish with the DA polisher to try to improve it. It's shiny, but still has the cloudy appearance underneath the shine.

Could this be the early stages of clear coat failure, or is there something else I can do?

Yeah, a good chance...just try to keep polising oils on it if you want it to go a bit longer....

The thing I don't understand is I inherited a car from my mother (who passed), and it's heavily oxidised due to neglect, but there doesn't appear to be any clear coat failure.

Hi, just protect it with a good wax, cera meguiars

There are some pure polishing oil products, like Deep Crystal or #7.

But most of the cleaner/polishes have oils in them, like the Ult Polish or Hybrid Paint Prep... Can apply some gently, then get some wax on it.
