WebDAV calendar (Mac/PC poll)

Mike,

Could you speak with your technical gurus about possible making the Detailing Clinics/Classes, Car Crazy Events, Mobile Training Centers, and any other calendars I am missing, available via a WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) server?

My reason for asking is that those Meguiar's and Car Crazy nuts with access to an Apple Macintosh computer can subscribe to these calendars via the iCal software that comes with the latest version of the Apple operation system (OS X 10.x.x). I am sure that there are also PC calendars/software available that would also allow this, but I have not researched the PC side of things.

I am aware of the calendars on the Meguiar's website(s), but I think this option would be a fantastic way to keep in touch with Meguiar's events.

I would be more than happy to host the calendars myself, but I find it difficult to know when and what has been changed on the calendar without having to check on a daily basis, through different calendars, and over several months. If that could be worked around, this might be a solution as well.

I imagine that, as with most everything else, the Apple Macintosh population is rather small within Meguiar's Online members. However, I would imagine that a good majority of those members would be excited about this option. It could be that the other members would also like to have access to these calendars, and would use the Mozilla browser to gain access.

Please do not turn this into a Mac vs. PC (aka Chevy vs. Ford) issue.

I think this would be good information for Meguiar's, and I would hate to see the post closed if this goes off-topic.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for looking into this. If you're on a Mac, and have the iCal software, it's really rather easy. It's just like adding stuff to any other calendar software.

As I said, I would be glad to do it, if there was a way to be updated with new events or changes, without having to check the online calendar (over several page, several months, and several categories).

I have one too, dedicated to car shows. You won't see much now until the spring as it's heavily weighted to the NY car show scene. Any submissions from across the county are welcome though. I'd love to keep it going through the year.

As I discussed with Mike above, it's hard to keep this updated, as I cannot know when dates/times change, unless I go through the entire calendar and compare each date/event.

I will do my best to keep this updated. As I see that there are a couple of people interested, I will look into the Car Crazy events as a calendar.

I also found a standalone version (doesn't require using a browser) of the Mozilla/Firefox calendar software, code named Sunbird. As with the integrated calendar, and the standalone version, these are in beta and still have some work to go.

The Sunbird Project - Standalone Calendar
