  • How to get URLs to show up as Blue with descriptive text?

When I insert a URL in my posts, using the link button on the toolbar, I end up with something that looks like

in my post. How can I format that correctly so it looks like

First Timer - Town and Country, 146K
with the link active? I've tried just typing the text above with the correct formatting and then going back with the link tool, but that forces the underline and changes the text color to black and doesn't allow me to reformat it back to blue.

    Thanks!

Aaron I think he means this Thread
I think he means to have something say words and the URL in hidden there.
So what you do is type the text what you want it to say.
      Then you copy the URL.
Go back to your post and highlight the text.
Then you press the Globe with the chain link.
      You copy the URL there.
Then you change the text color at the big A and black bar underneath.
      Choose whatever color you want.

      I hope this helps.

        Another method is to

        1. copy the link (ie: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/sho...442#post294442)

        2. in the post reply section, type the word you like the link to attach. (ie:
First Timer - Town and Country, 146K
        )

        3. highlight the above word , then click on the "insert link" (looks like a globe with a chain infront) - paste the link in the message box - click ok

        4. Voila - you're done

        5. You should end up like this

First Timer - Town and Country, 146K

        Hope this helps

Yeah, I meant to do that not include the www.**.com in my reply, but you got it.

It also won't let you change the color unless the color code is in front of what you want it to say.....

I highlight your title, pick the link (globe/chain button), then color, then bold etc. In the picture, you will see the Meguiars is green .

              Thanks for the replies.

              I have a couple oddities:
              1. Nappers, when I click the URL Link button, I don't see the formatting codes, just the link, so there's no way for me to edit to add the color code.
              2. I used the process described - type text, select it, then insert a link into it and change formatting. When I preview it, however, I never see the color formatting. I guess I'll play around with it in this thread to test.

Edit: Even after posting, the link is still black....

I'm still completely unable to remove the underlining, as far as I can tell.

You can not remove the underlining to my knowledge.
It is there to show that it is a link.

highlight your words whatever they may be, click the globe with chain button, add your url to the box. As your words are still highlighted or re-highlight, click the color button and change the color.

I believe Carfire has it right, it's underlined because it's a link

To edit your code you need to go to Code View, the default is WYSIWYG View.

In the upper left of the "Reply Thread Box", you'll see a button that will toggle your screen view between WYSIWYG and Code View.

                        Click on this button

Now you can see your code and tweak it.

                          Thank you, Mike!

Don't know how clear it is above, but the message edit screen hangs offscreen on my display and I never saw that control there.

It's easy once you know how to do it....
