  • Newbie Here w/Question

    Hello To All:
Glad to be involved with Meguiars, and I hear everyone is really helpful. I know this might sound dopey, but need to really know. I have an 05/Hemi/2wd/Red. I want to take off any exsisting polish and wax. I want to get this trucks body looking really "FINE" ! My plans are to clay, scratchx, DC Paint Cleaner, DC Polish, then NXT Wax.

1st Quest: Is all of this necessary? I'm not entering in a showcar contest. I would just like for people to say "wow, nice job on that truck".

2nd Quest: I know people say it's a no no, but can I wash the truck w/dishsoap to remove all the garbage just to start fresh.

Thanks For all Of Your Patience And Feedback:
    Don

    Re: Newbie Here w/Question

    1. YES! ! ! you will need it all. but i think it is enough to use Scratch X only and saving DC#1 for later detailing. but JUST for security, use them both. i guarantee you it will be worth the effort.

    2. NO! ! ! stop using dishwashing detergent. if you want a fresh start use NXT car wash, and using the clay, DC#1 will strip of you leftover car wax. don't worry about it

    i hoped i helped

      Re: Newbie Here w/Question

ScratchX and DC1 is for 2 different purposes. ScratchX is more for a spot on swirls and scratch remover. It'll be very hard & time consuming to use it on the whole car. Maybe by doing a section a week but I haven't tried the new formula that can be use for PC/G100 yet though? Maybe someone else that have tried can share some info.

DC1 is works great to clean the existing wax/polish and removing light scratches, swirls & oxidation for the whole car. You need not wait for cleaner & polish to dry to wipe off. Remember this...hehehe. Both are great products and like 'frustrateddetailer' said get both then.

Just a suggestion, why not try ColorX. Its a cleaner/polish/wax all 3 in one. And its a bit more aggressive than DC1 since u wanted to start fresh. I think it would suit u, since u need not enter a "show car contest". And it'll really save u time & energy. U just wash, clay, colorx & nxt wax. Saves u 3 steps that are very tiring. And u'll still be surprise by the results. U might not need a show car but end results u'll get a show car like. By the way u doing it by hand or machine? Take care.

Below is the 1986 Ford Bronco II - Extreme Makeover that motivated me to try the ColorX:

        Re: Newbie Here w/Question

I do have the PC7424, but only used it once, and I think I stink at it. I have a bunch of different colored foam pads I ordered for it. Other than less steps, would there be a difference with the results of using colorx instead of the other 2, meaning DC Cleaner&DC Polish? More importantly, can colorx be used with the PC 7424? I have2(Red) finishing pads,2(white) poishing pads, and 2(black) glazing pads. Here is the link for the pads I ordered so anyone can evaluate if they would be any good.http://www.properautocare.com/hi612infopaa.html . I've used the clay many times and love what it does. You guy's are alot of help, thanks.
