I just purchased a 2007 Chevy Equinox. Color is deep ruby red metallic. I some good recommendations on what products to use in order to keep this vehicle looking showroom new. For starters I was looking at at the NXT Gen car wash and also the wax. Also we have a big problem with those nasty luv bugs here in Fl. about twice a year and they do a number on the paint. Any suggestions or advice on products or cleaning accessories would be greatly appreciated!

Re: New Vehicle Advice
Hi usnret94,to MOL!
Mike has a list of stuff he recommends new members read. It kind'a covers the basics and most peoples' first questions. So here it is. If this doesn’t cover what you’re looking for ask away.
NXT is certainly a great wash shampoo but bug guts can be mighty stubborn. Depending on your local bugs (and how fast you plastered them) it may take more than a shampoo. Gold Class Bug & Tar Remover and detailing clay come in handy. I also like to use a soft brush to remove big chunky bug splats from paint when shampooing rather than let them get snagged in my good mitts.
PC.

Re: New Vehicle Advice
There are plenty of bugs here in Wyoming. First, make sure your vehicle is prepped and waxed using the directions above. The slicker the surface, the easier it is to clean bugs off.
When I take my Mach1 out for a driive during the summer, I always wipe down the car with detailing spray. The bugs seem stick less to surfaces just coated with detailing spray. When I stop for gasoline or lunch, I always clean any bugs off using a microfiber towel and liberal amounts of detailing spray.
Bottom line: I NEVER let bugs stay on my paint for more than a couple of hours.
I also use a Colgan bra. Colgan seems to be the highest quality and my paint is flawless underneath it because:
I only put it on a clean car.
I make sure the bra is clean.
I never leave it on for more than a day.
I always wash the bra after each use.
I never put the bra on a wet car.
