Well now, that was a busy week. But fun, too, of course. Car guy mecca can only be a great time, right?
But before you can have fun, talk to customers and other car guys, you've got to set things up. This is what our booth looked like Monday morning as things were getting put together. That's the Mercedes SLS AMG we used to demo the new MT300 buffer and foam discs.

The folks at Ford were setting up too, and our team, lead by Derek Bemiss, was busy prepping cars at the same time.

That's Derek working on a couple of classic Mustangs perched above the big screen.

SEMA offers a wild mix of cars, accessories, wheels and pretty much anything you can imagine automotive related. It is, after all, the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association.
You get the feeling this could go just about anywhere, right?

Nope, this one is not going to polish out.

Wide body kits seemed to be the norm, especially on Italian exotics. Search YouTube for the wide body LibertyWalk Ferrari 458 Italia that got rear ended by a lifted Jeep during the roll out on Friday night. Yep, that happened.

OK, so some German iron got wide body kits too!

Matte paint was a common sight this year, and this dark grey metallic matte finish looked amazing on this Audi R8.

Matte paint AND a wide body kit!

Got stance?

You decide if this is smart or not!

Tanner Foust had a hand in this hot little Beetle.

You may have read about the 3D printed car on the Interwebs in the weeks leading up to SEMA. Well, this is it. Yep, this car was 3D printed in pieces and then bolted together....and it's actually driveable. They had a demo going on behind it where they were printing extra fenders and other bits.

Darth Vader meets Hot Wheels!

You don't often see a hot rod powered by a Desoto Firedome V8, but this one is.

Under the hood of the Shelby Cobra replica in our booth outside.

Speaking of our booth outside, it sure looked pretty after sunset!

The GM Futureliner restored by Kindig It Design - this vehicle was featured on the episode of "Bitchin' Rides" on Velocity early in the week, so it was extra cool to watch the build on TV one night and see the finished product the next day.

Barry Meguiar interviews another car builder on the Car Crazy Stage in front of the Convention Center.

That is one big, wide, orange Caddy.

Trumpets on a BMW.... sweeeeet!

That looks like a lot of motor for this car!

And since we're talking about a lot of motor, this one's literally ripping it's way out from under the hood!

There's that matte paint again.

Wide body kit on an M3, built for track duty.

Now before you go asking about this shirt, the owner of the BMW had these custom printed. The car is VIP Sponsored by Meguiar's so they did it up right before packing up and making the trip from New Jersey to Las Vegas to show it off.

Plenty of trucks on display also.

We held a special invitation only meet on Tuesday night to show off the new MT300 buffer and new foam discs to a group of elite detailers.

Back at the booth, we took turns demonstrating the new tool. Here, our own Ash Erickson spins the buffer while Jason Rose talks to the crowd. We sanded the car with 3000 grit via pneumatic DA before leaving Irvine, and buffed it through the week using the new burgundy cutting pad and D300.

Another Meguiar's sponsored car caught in the wild.

Did we mention there were a lot of wheels on display?

You just never know who you're going to meet at SEMA. That is indeed Charlie Hutton, painter extraordinaire who has done a lot of work with Boyd Cottington and Chip Foose. He sprayed the paint on the custom Nova behind us. That Nova, by the way, was a Great 8 Winner at Autorama earlier in the year.

Before the show opened we had to do final prep on the Nova. Disappointed quickly reared it's ugly head when I realized that all I had to do was put a quick coat of wax on the car and dress the tires for show. I was really looking forward to actually "working" on this car, but it was so well prepped before it left Florida, thanks to Robert DiTerlizzi, that nothing more was needed. And Robert tells me he used nothing but Meguiar's on the car. Naturally.

Freebies!!!! And boy, did these go fast!

Buffer under glass - the new MT300 on display in our booth.

Paint Protect.... see those water beads on the label? They're actually in 3D so you can feel them on the bottle. Yep, even our packaging is cool!

This was toward the end of the day on Friday as the show was winding down. Jeremy Miranda of Miranda Built, Inc, is the man who's shop built that amazing Nova. Barry popped in to interview Jeremy for Car Crazy and then he and his crew signed posters of the car for some of us. So much coolness!

Not everything was all sunshine and perfect paint, however. This poor ride was assaulted by a rotary buffer and was in desperate need of some TLC. At least the sponsored Toyo Tires on the car looked good!

Don't get too close to this gigantic truck.... or it's front wheels! Yikes!

There's that Meguiar's decal again. Can you guess the car it's on?

The new Lamborghini Huracan, on display in the Vorsteiner booth.

But that wasn't the only Huracan in Las Vegas.

What's that we said about wheels?

Bentley has a rich racing heritage, having won LeMans 5 times between 1924 and 1930, and again in 2003. They now have a full time team in the GT3 championship.

That's one heck of a piggy back ride!

Is this a DeLorean with a Charger body kit, or a Charger that thinks it's a DeLorean?

No, this one won't buff out either. But it looks so cool like this!

Back to our booth.... this was at 7:45 Thursday morning before the doors opened for the day. Kind of strange to see it this empty!
