I know of alot of people who swear by Optimum No Rinse. It's generated quite a fan base over here, however the problem still exists of the water frezzing on body panels and drying out the users hands.

The only place I found that has sold gloves as Car Wash gloves is a place called Halfords. These were the Nitrile gloves I spoke of earlier, however I haven't seen them in there for ages. They're very good as they don't dry out like rubber household gloves and are thin so give plenty of feel.

My quest for some decent wash gloves may have yielded something. Anyone heard or tried the Trojan Hydro Gloves?

They say they have a "Waterproof Membrane", but so do Sealskinz. I don't want to waste £13 on a pair of gloves if they perform like sealskinz.

Waterless has evolved passed no rinse type products. The easiest waterless type product we use are spray and wipe products. (THEY DO NOT SCRATCH IF USED PROPERLY) My hands never touch the product or dirt.

What are they? I'm starting a part-time detailing business in the spring and if I could go waterless, that would be really cool. Makes me different from other detailers and service differentiation is key (at least, according to my economics professor ).

Waterless has been surpassed by no touch. However I actually like putting my hand in a wash mitt and a bucket of suds, hence why this thread is titled Cold Weather Car Wash Gloves

If you want to debate the Pros and Cons of waterless or no touch washing, please do, but go somewhere else and do it.

Who is this directed to? I see nowhere were anybody has debated anything? I figured the best way from keeping your hands from being freezing wet was to not put them in cold water. Thus offering you the perfect solution to keeping your hands warm and dry. I'll be the first to admit I am very simple man.

I'm sure it has it's place and will try it sometime, but today I filled my screw lid buckets with hot water and headed to the car wash to wash the salt off my car. It was non-heated manual bay with only one garage door. It felt good to put my mitt in that bucket and wash with Gold Class. Too much hesitation and the soap would freeze before rinsing. Can't be good for the car or me!!

The description on these looks very good, and they appear to have a fairly long cuff on them that may help when you reach a bit deeper into the bucket than you may have intended. Still, one would think that wearing a weather proof (or at least resistant) jacket with cuffs reaching over the cuff of the glove would further help the cause.

Of course, filling your bucket with slightly warm water from inside the house is a big help too, especially when working bare handed. While it doesn't get all that cold here in Southern California, we have been known to wash a car or two when temps dip down around 45F or so, and that can be at least a bit uncomfortable after just a few minutes. We'll fill the bucket from an indoor faucet with water just above room temperature - and then work quickly outside. Sure, hands start to chill a bit as you work, but there's that nice warm (relatively speaking) bucket of water to reach for regularly.

Back to the gloves linked to above - since they do look promising, why not do a Google search for reviews on that specific item? Seems there's a forum for everything you can think of these days - someone, somewhere has to have made a comment about these.

Coming from the east coast I bought chemical resistant gloves a couple of years ago and they wear like concrete. That and hot water from the tub helps.

Just to clarify this piece of information that is often misunderstood, the phenomenon of hot water freezing faster than cold water, also known as the Mpemba Effect, while this will happen, it is dependent on a number of factors and will not always occur. It is difficult to cool a hot sample and a cold sample and have all else be equal. For example, without careful intervention, cold water has more dissolved gasses, and possibly more or less dissolved solids, some possibly from the container surface itself.

Bottom line is that it is not quite as basic (and actually it is physics at work, not chemistry) as it seems.

Not a fan of rinseless or waterless wash products.

80% of the vehicles I do simply cannot be prepped properly with them.
