  • suggestion on Production Date and Saturday Classes

Hello admins and members of MOL,

I am a car lover from Hong Kong. I am writing this article based on my personal experience with Meguiar's products and dealers in local HK. It may not be the same with what people are experiencing in different countries / regions, but I guess it would be nice for us to share on the Internet.

Recently I bought a bottle of NXT Tech Protect in a local shop. However I realized that it is the old packaging, and the spray head was broken after 4 sprays... The liquid inside has some kind of sedimentation and "jellification" happening when I opened it... I believe that product has been placed on shelf for a long long long time. I am suggesting that Meguiar's should add the production date on the bottle. For example:
    MFG:Jul2010

Besides, it appears that car detailing is not a popular "weekend activity" for car lovers here in HK. I am suggesting that Meguiar's Hong Kong (China maybe?) should arrange more public relationship activities and saturday classes just like what you have in USA. When more people like detailing their cars, Meguiar's should generate more revenue. More shops will be willing to sell Meguiar's products. This will be a win-win situation for both end users and the Company.

    Thank you for reading this!

    Dennis.

Dennis, we're sorry to hear about this apparently old bottle of product ending up in your hands. Has your local dealer been willing to help you with this and exchange the product?

Just so you know, we do now stamp a production code on all bottles of product that does include an alpha numeric code that encompasses both date of manufacture and batch code info. Unfortunately, it seems the bottle you have is old enough that it may not have had this information stamped on the bottle.

      Hello Michael,

The local shop allowed me to change to Gold Class Wash 64oz. There is no refund policy for Meguiar's Hong Kong. I could only add more $$ to change for the sth else... (Thats not the service customers would like to see...)

I am looking at my spray bottle of Ultimate Quik Wax, which I believe should be a relatively new product.

What is the format of the production code that you have mentioned? Other than the normal front and back label stickers on the bottle, I see a small black and white stamp on the back label, reads:
      "B011PW1 S"

Is this the "alpha-numeric" code that you mentioned?
What is the meaning behind all those codes?
When did your company start putting on this stamp?
It appears that most products I buy in HK since 2009 are without this stamp...

Yes, the code you're seeing on the bottle of UQW is the production code and this one specifically indicates a date of production of February 2010 (B = Feb, 0=2010).

When you state "there is no refund policy for Meguiar's Hong Kong" are you talking about just the specific retailer where you purchased the product, or when dealing with the actual distributor, aka Meguiar's Hong Kong? It is pretty common for a retailer to not want to refund a partially used product, even when there is an obvious issue with it. We see that here in the States as well. But you should be able to contact Meguiar's Hong Kong via http://www.meguiars.com.hk/ and get satisfaction.

          Michael,
Thank you very much for the reply.
Is there a complete list for codes of production months?
And I will try to contact Meguiar's HK to see how they respond.
Hopefully they will have the problem solved.

          Thanks in advance!
