  • Spray On Sealant

I would like to see a product comparable to Zaino's Z-CS. A one step spray on, wipe off sealant. Possibly a NXT clear seal that requires no hazing and buffing off, just spray on and work in. That would be awsome!

Like a wax type of thing or like a Quik Detailer with wax properties like UQD.

More like UQD instead of spray wax. I know UQD adds some polymer protection but since it is still in the quick detail category I would believe the protection properties would still be below a quickwax. I would like to see an actual sealant that gives you comparable protection to NXT spray/liquid wax that works exactly like UQD. Other mfgs. offer products that perform similar functions (z-cs, optiseal, acrylic jett trigger) and are categorizied as sealants and not QD's. I stick to Megs and havent actually used any of these, so I cannot attest to durability/protection but like the idea behind them.

I think it would have to be more like a spray wax.

Take a look at our new Ultimate Quik Wax:
          • Hydrophobic Polymers like NXT Tech Wax 2.0
          • Won't stain vinyl trim
          • Can be applied in direct sunlight even on a warm day
          • High shine, deepening of the color, great water beading
          • By far our longest lasting spray wax

And when we say it won't stain black vinyl trim, we aren't kidding. We've seen this sprayed directly onto textured vinyl mirrors and let sit for 10 minutes. It almost looked like a vinyl dressing had been applied.

I tried to get it to stain trim. It actually made the trim look better.

              Re: Spray On Sealant

One thing that is happening here is comparing apples to oranges.
I'm not in any way knocking the Meguiar's products mentioned, but they are not "wipe on, walk away" products like the Zaino-CS or Optimum's Opti-Seal.
I happen to use and like Opti-Seal, but it hasn't caused me to get rid of the other LSPs I own.
Also, it isn't necessarily for everyone. I have a friend that tried the Opti-Seal, didn't care for it and gave away practically a full bottle.

One other thing about new products. While we may have an interest in rinseless or waterless washes and WOWA sealants, Meguiar's, (or any manufacturer), has to weigh the cost of research and development against the projected sales volume. Meguiar's probably sells more NXT in a month than they would sell a WOWA product in a year.
When they think the market is ready, chances are they will be there.

I would beg to differ and say that Ultimate Quick Wax is comparable/equivalent to the Zaino products you mention.

I would also beg to differ. I bought 1 bottle of NXT 2.0 wax last summer and expect it to last through this summer and thats with waxing every few of weeks. on the other hand I've bought at least 3 bottles of UQD, I use that stuff for everything!

You could be right, but not according to Mike Phillips.

This past year I have purchased three bottles of NXT 2.0 and no UQD. Actually, I don't even know what UQD is an acronym for.

It might be interesting if the percentage of sales per product was available. I rather doubt the Meguiar's has any interest in providing that, but maybe a general idea wouldn't give away any trade secrets.

Charles, you are definitely correct that our Ultimate Quik Wax is not a wipe on/walk away product. I only offered it up because it is the closest product we have to a true wipe on/walk away - it does offer some level of protection (much more than your average spray wax) including hydrophobic polymers, it is simple to use even in direct sunlight on a very, very warm surface and it won't stain trim at all, plus it's VOC free. That's a lot of benefit for something so easy to use. It's also much more cost effective than Z-CS, which is a whopping $29.95 for a 6 ounce bottle!! Ouch.

As for UQD, that would be Ultimate Quik Detailer, a mist & wipe product that also provides the same hydrophobic polymers found in NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0.

When I posted this, I did try to point out I wasn't knolcking Meguiar's, but the comparisons weren't of comparable products.

They all have their place, just not for everyone.
As far as cost, I'm not a Zaino fan so I can't speak for the cost of use.
I do use Opti-Seal and an 8 oz. bottle at $22 to $25 will probably do 40 to 50 cars so cost per use is not out of line.
It is a true sealant, not a maintenance product or a quick detailer.

My intention is not to promote any products, much less your competitors.
I happen to use and like many Meguiar's products and have for years.

Back on topic, like the original poster mentioned in a forum asking for "any suggestions or ideas for NEW products that you would like to see Meguiar's come out with", I agree with him in that it might be worth Mequiar's looking into.

it would be interesting for meguiars to do a comparison of protection on UQW vs. Opti-Seal. Like on the video of NXT 2.0 that shows all the colors under the special camera. i think that vidoe is on the www.meguiars.com home page.
