You can't even have frames? I know that in most states, including CA, you can't have the red camera blocking covers, but you're allowed to have frames.

You can't have plate covers in CA (found out the not so easy way), but you can have frames.

Yeah, what's up with no frames? That makes absolutely no sense. I'm pretty sure the black tinted ones are illegal but not frames. Weird. Jeez, it's hard to buy a car these days without the dealer putting a sticker or frame on a car.

yup plate frames/covers are illegal in jersey and ny, reason being, most plate frames cover the state name on the top or bottom..

so even a dealer installed plate frame can have u pulled over, and ticketed...it was actually on the news a few months ago in ny about it...

Wow that's crazy. But, I guess I can see there point if it cover the state name or something else important. Dealers must know that and not pit plates on.

I completely agree that hey should pay the ticket if there dumb enough to put them on knowing theres a law. Jeez, it's bad enough that they put them on to begin with. Jeez, that's how they thank you for buying a car from them, they run you the chance of getting a ticket? Crazy!

                            Re: License Plate Frames

New York State CAN have license plate frames.
However, the old style frames covered "New York" and "The Empire State" lettering. Those were outlawed.

New styles, which are legal, have smaller company lettering, top and bottom, and leave the state logos visible.

The covers are illegal, as is having one plate (in NY). I just received a parking ticket in front of my house at 0245hrs for having one plate. Never mind the fact my front bumper is damaged, and the plate is almost ripped in half, so I removed it.
