  • How about a heavy duty wax for stored / unused cars?

How about coming out with a super durable / super protective wax with not alot of regard to shine but the best proteciton possible. One for people who may have an extra car that is either stored or possibly has to sit outside or even be covered for long periods of time, could possibly even be used by active military for when thier deployed and thier cars sit back home unmaintained?

One of my cars go through this at least 4 months outa the year and I'd use it!

Maybe even something you would apply and leave on then remove when the vehicle comes outa storage... Sorta like a product that would help leave a buffer on the car even if you used a cover..

Consider this: any decent wax or sealant applied to a vehicle (using proper technique of course) that is not exposed to the elements but rather is parked in a garage or otherwise protected from said elements, is going to retain that wax coating for a very, very long time. If various environmental and man made factors (rain, road grime, salt, sun, detergents, etc) are not allowed to act on the sacrificial barrier (ie, wax) then its life is prolonged by a huge amount. Not only is the wax/sealant not exposed to the sort of things that act to slowly diminish it, neither is the car itself.

On the other hand, if the car sits outside exposed to the elements for a long period of time, none of the above really applies.

Or I was thinking along the lines of sitting outside with a cover over it, even then no matter what cover you use, they still rub and get dirt/dust under them that is then rubbed against the paint as well?

I believe the product(s) you are looking for already exist: either Meguair's #21 2.0 OR NXT 2.0.

The only downside is they WILL add awesome shine too

Seriously though, wax wears down from being touched and removed, typically from washing, acidic rain, using the wrong quick detailers, etc. So, if the vehicle is mostly untouched in that time period either of the aforementioned waxes should do exactly what you want.

I would suggest 2 to 3 coats to be ultra safe, but that is even likely over kill. Also, when applying the additional coats realize that each coat is recommended to have several hours (Some say as much as 8 hours) between coats to allow maximum bonding.

          Good luck

            Perhaps something like this? http://www.autoskin.com.au
            Might be overkill though.

(oops - I hope my previous post didn't violate the forum rules, re: the link - I don't think it does because it's not "self promoting".
