New paint jobs are very expensive Mike phillips. I would rather use a clear coat booster. wouldnt you? Ramair, you said "DuPont, BASF, Glasurit, etc. already make such a product" what are they called, i would be interested in buying some.
Any clear coat would probably have to be sprayed on and allowed to dry, and that is probably beyond the skill level of most detailers. If you apply it too heavily and it runs, then you have major problems! It will be tricky to use to say the least. Then there is the major worry about orange peel.
It will probably take a major advancement in technology/chemistry to get a true clear coat booster that can be wiped on and buffed off.
