One Inch Pads

Not sure if it already exists, but maybe a handheld rotary machine that uses one inch pads. It will be good for getting rid of RIDS (random isolated deep scratches), but also for areas that 6 and 8 inch pads can't reach.

I can never get rid of swirls with a G100 for areas close to an edge. An example is the area right below the windows. Do you guys tilt the pads so most of the pressure is on it?

Also, my car has a couple of the RIDS, but I don't really want to get a rotary so a one inch rotary machine would be perfect. It would kinda look like the Ultimate Scrubber:

Can a motor be made small enough to be powerful enough?

I know ScratchX can be used for those areas, but it takes about 8 applications with my kind of paint and my arm about falls off.

I was just planning to tilt my g100 to get to those odd parts. Anything else that can't be reached my not get any love.

there are 4" (width) foam pads but they are not from Megs do a search on search engines.....
also not you will need a specfic bp for the foam pads...
again this option is if you have a g100(pc)

I saw the 3 and 4 inch pads, but I was hoping more for a handheld rotary. I don't want to step up to a real rotary, but I do want something to take out the deeper scratches. I figured a small handheld rotary using very small pads would work for touching up those scratches. Would using the 3 inch pads with a G100 work at removing deep scratches?

Folks...

Small hand held right angle rotary polishers are widely used by paint refinish shops for grinding, sanding, and polishing small or hard to reach areas.

Many tool brands to choose from. Mostly pneumatic tools.

Small one inch backing plates and pads are available for some.

The norm is using the 3 inch pads shown in this thread.

I've been using them for years for defect removal and polishing on pillars, small body contours, bumpers, door jambs, wheels, and around emblems...you know...places hard to navigate with a 6in or 8in pad.

Remember, the smaller the pad size you go, the more rpm speed you will need to do the same job a larger pad will do. So, don't skimp on the air compressor output & flow. And don't be afraid of the high speed sound these little tools make. They are relatively less aggressive than larger tools.
