  • extreme road trip protection?

ive often thought about this one...

id like some kind of spray on thick slime? protection for long road trips or winter use. like when you know your car wont stay clean because of thick med or bugs, here in england the bottom half of my car is thick with mud within several miles, and in summer the front end gets covered in bugs

maybe some kind of thick transparent spray thats good enough to hold up to rain, but would offer a shield between the paint and the mud, then once a week you could hose off and clean the car and then re apply the spray to the lower panels and wheel arches areas

this wouldnt be a beauty product, just a layer of something to help protect the paint and enable the mud to wash off easier

    what do you think??

I believe there are already products like this that paint shops use to spray onto vehicles while others are being painted to prevent overspray.

I have Napa chemical catalog right here... google search "Slime HS", "Boothguard", and "Dustfree".

Not sure if they hold up to rain but Im thinking theyd work on say a driving trip to a car show to help mask from bugs and such.

Dupli-Color makes exactly what you are looking for. It's called Shield.

Here is a quote from their product:

"Shield, from Dupli-Color, provides temporary spray-on protection for your vehicle where bugs and road grime can do damage. It’s ideal for the front end, rear quarter panel and rocker panels. Spray on Shield as a temporary bra for long road trips, quick mud flaps or as a bug guard. Shield sprays on easily and dries in less than a minute. And best of all, it stays on until you wash it off. You can power wash it off or use soap and water. Rain, snow or moisture in the air won’t affect it. This product leaves no residue on a vehicle’s paint. Give your vehicle the protection that it deserves with Shield."
