The larger the pad, the harder it will be to use, the more likely it can cause damage because the edge is moving at a faster speed.
Wouldn't the smaller pad edge will move faster then the large pad at the same speed? I do agree with the small pad will get the better angle and edges.
I use 6.5" pads, I may purchase a backing plate for my rotary for 8" pads to use with my 6.5" pads as I saw Kevin Brown do that to keep the pad flat on bigger panels which is what the '66 Dodge D-100 is, a box on wheels with nice big flat panels.
I had 8" pads but cut them down to 6.5 + - a few MM's

unfortunately, I'm only using 8" pads. It's good for large area but the 6" is extremely helpful in tight areas. I just wonder if it's possible to cut those 8" into 6"?? have anyone did this before ??!!
