G-100a

Hello,
I have 2 G-100As here now. This past weekend, I broke out the newer of the 2 to use. That puppy got "HOT" And I mean hot enough that I would have to put it down after working a couple fo panels. It got to where I could only hold it via the Black Rubber on either end.

I have some more work to do this week and hope to do a side by side comparison between the 2 but I just wanted to advise you folks of this in the meantime.

I'll repost whatever differences I find between the 2 machines.

I've had mine get hot after using it for a long time, but not so hot I couldn't put my hand on the head of the unit.

It is noticably hotter than the other. I am going to play with it some more beofre calling CS and requesting action.

I did work the heck out of it the other day but there were long breaks where I would put it down. When I picke it back up it had cooled down but would get hot agin very fast. With the other PC, I used it during all day polishing sessions using 2 different polishes back to back. I did not notice it getting anywhere near as hot as this one does.

I had to really make a good hard effort to remeber to keep my hands away frm hte vents so it would get plenty off air. If my hand even partially covered a vent it would heat up to the point where it was unbearable. I even broke out gloves.

What speed are you running the G-100 at? This along with time of use will cause the machine to get warm/ hot. Try running the machine at 3 or 4 when using it for long periods of time. If it is a short time use , you can run it a little higher. Never should be ran higher then 5, and I personally never run mine higher than 4.

We used it at setting #4. We were applying #21.

Like I said I don't wish to sound any alert as yet and send it back. I want to compare it with my other one first.

The only reson I wanted to make note of it early was the fact that I noticed it early in the day. Then later, a buddy came over and was using it and he mentioned the same thing "without" my having said anything about my having noticed it.

Thanks for the details.. If it continues to be a concern give our call center a call and they will be happy to assist you. It can get warm. should not get uncomfortable hot!!!

Keep us posted Jeff as this is of interest to me mainly because living in the UK we run 240v power and use a step down transformer so we have to cut the plug off and I wonder if the warranty would still be valid

Bryan, I will put out what I find no problem. I don't want to cause any alert here. I mean, this does not appear to be serious enough that I am boxing it up to return to customer service to check out. It could simply be that somehow was using it differently than I had been using the other one. I found that I had to make a conscious effort to keep my big fats hands off the air vents. So it is very likely I did this to myself. But it is worth mentioning whether it be due to my own fault or I have a machine that needs attention. If it's through my own action the thoughts from others will go a long way toward helping me to correct whatever I may be doing to cause it.

Your best bet to avoid voiding the warranty on the G-100a is to make a short pigtail to for the step down transformer and then plugging the G-100A into that. No questions asked then!
