    Thank you
If you are trying to remove swirls and scratches by hand using ScratchX, this means you're trying to remove paint as that is the only way to level the surface and in effect remove the swirls and scratches.

Because most paints tend to be harder versus softer, (but not all), you cannot effectively remove paint if you try to tackle too large of area at one time, thus the emphasis on working only small sections at a time.

Oops, my mistake, the PM was from another person at Meguiar's. I have to say I am quite impressed with the customer attention I've received so far I haven't seen this website before, I was actually trying to find a phone number for technical service when I stumbled in here!
I have sent him the pictures of my truck.

The truck didn't have any visible swirls in the paint when I bought it, nor when I washed it at the same carwash a number of times before I used the Quik Wax.

I sprayed the wax directly on the truck then spread using the cloth, terrycloth towels. In areas I didn't want overspray I sprayed the wax directly on the cloth. The towels are incredibly soft and are smooth. I use the same cloths on my black motorcycle and have never had a problem.

I have seen plenty of swirls before, but I've never seen the odd pattern these have, they are not the shape of a swirl (rounded) they are straight up and down That is why I questioned the car wash thinking that maybe the water pressure "pushed" the wax into this shape as I was waving the wand side to side. I also was thinking that swirls typically stayed in the same place as you looked at them from different angles, these "swirls" move down the truck as you walk along side it

Like I said, both times I used the Quik wax the truck looked fantastic afterwards, it wasn't until I washed it that it turned to terrible.

Another note, my bottle is maroon and does not look the same as the one I saw on this website??

I washed the truck tonight and it looks the same, so it is ready to do whatever I need to to fix this. At home I have the following waxes/cleaner/etc for paint -
      Meguiars
      Quik Wax (obviously!)
Mirror Glaze 9 swirl remover, I have had this for over 6 years from when I used it on my boat, not sure if it's still any good.
Gold Class - Clear Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer, few years old.
Gold Class - Clear Coat Liquid Car Wax, pretty new, I use on my motorcycle

I also have a bottle of Mothers California Gold Carnuba Cleaner Wax.

Can any of these be of any use to fix this problem?? What else do I need and what do I need to do to make my truck pretty again!!

      Thanks again

I'm going to guess that the clear coat finish on your Ford Excursion will tend to be harder than softer, at least compared to a single stage black finish. For this reason, removing swirls and scratches, (i.e. removing a little paint), by hand is going to require either a dedicated paint cleaner, or a strong cleaner/wax and the human element of passion and desire. A little passion behind the applicator pad and enough desire to go all the way around a Ford Excursion.

For this we recommend either ScratchX or ColorX.
        ScratchX
        ColorX

Both of these should be applied using a clean, soft foam applicator pad like this.

        High-Tech Applicator Pad

Of the products you've listed, you could try the #9 Swirl Remover as it is a cleaner/polish, but it's pretty mild and best results for actually removing defects come when it's machine applied. The Gold Class Prep and Swirl Reduce is kind of the same type of product. If you like you can try applying either of these products, again, using a clean foam applicator and then inspecting your results before going over the entire rig.

I heard back from Tom of Meguiar's this morning. He looked at the pictures I sent him and thinks it may just be towel marks from removing the wax. He recommended I try using the Gold Class Prep and Swirl reducer followed with the Gold Class wax I have at home. And using a microfiber towel to remove.

I was under the impression the Quik Wax could be used as a "wax" instead of a 'wax between waxes'.

I will follow Tom's advice and post back with the results

Once again I am VERY impressed with the rapid customer response of Meguiar's

OK, I used the prep and swirl reducer then the Gold wax.

            The truck looks great

I was hesitant to post my results until it had been washed, I washed it last night at the carwash without the soap and the truck still looks great!

Thank you everyone for the help
