  • Feedback from South Africa on the use of NXT Liquid

    Hi there,

First and foremost, I am very impressed with your great range.

I have purchased your entire NXT Range in South Africa from a retailer called Makro and even bought two bottles of each as Makro do run out of stock from time to time.

I have been using your NXT technical wax on my “Black” BMW 330i.

The polish is outstanding and gives the car a great finish, I am very happy.

I do however have one problem, and I am not sure why the following happens-

This past Saturday, I polished the bonnet with the technical wax. I took the car to work and it was parked in the basement with no direct sunlight. On Wednesday night, when I got home, I noticed that a small bird flying overhead probably dropped a liquid small type dropping on the bonnet. I took a wet chamois and removed it to find that the polish offered no protection and the dropping etched slightly into the clear coat. I fixed it by repolishing the area with the technical wax however there is still a slight imperfection present.

I do understand that the bonnet is subject to high temperature coming from the motor below.

In summary, it seems that this polish does not act as a barrier in relation to bird droppings?

What else do you suggest that I use?

    Regards

    Charles

    Hi Charles,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I'm afraid to tell you that to date, there is not a wax on the market that prevents etching and staining 100% from the acids found in bird dropping. The layer of wax you leave behind on the finish is measured in microns, that's why it's important to keep products like Quik Detailer, Speed Detailer on hand with a microfiber polishing cloth so that as soon as possible you can remove these types of contaminants before damage occurs.

The only 100% guaranteed way to protect against the damage caused by a bird dropping would be to use a car cover over the car, or park the car in a garage, or both.

      Thanks for the feedback.

Once last question, surely ****** would provide a better barrier.

What would the downfall be in using such a product?

Dont get me wrong, I will still use NXT on the car except for the bonnet as the extreme engine heat causes the wax to break down. Thanks Charles

I've always been told that in order to get a ****** type product to bond or stick to a surface that high temperatures are required. As for the ****** products on the market, for decades the manufacture of ****** categorically stated that the inclusion of ****** ingredients into a polish or wax preparation offered no benefit to the surface being treated.

I think it's primarily used as a buzz word to separate people from their money.

give it a try however and tell us what you think about the results you get in all their dimensions, (beauty and protection).
