Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner stripped paint off my wheel.

I'd like to start off by saying I use almost exclusively Meguiars products and have been very happy with them. Usually I use Meguiars Hot Rims cleaner and have never had an issue, but I decided to try a new product to get my wheels super clean. I took the wheel off the car and set it on the ground. I followed the instructions on the bottle and after rinsing the wheel, I was very impressed by how clean it was. Unfortunately, it seems like when I rinsed the wheels off, the product pooled up in the wheel well for just a few seconds and it dissolved the paint around the circumference of the inside of the barrel, taking it down to primer. I used the product on a spare wheel of mine, making sure to not let the product pool up, and was again very impressed by how clean it was. Let this be a warning to anyone who cleans their wheels on the ground. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I have used it a couple times on my wheels and I have had no issues with it. Is it possible that the wheels already had a defect that just happened to get worse after using the wheel cleaner?

Can you please further specify which area of the wheel you are referring to? Maybe circle the area then re-upload the picture? Do you have a before picture of this area on the wheel?

It's definitely a possibility but I doubt it. They are in good shape and I've used quite a few different wheel cleaners on them.

Unfortunately, I don't have any before pictures of the inside of the wheel. Later today I'll dismount the wheel and take some better pictures of the damaged area.
