  • Metal Polish diappointment

I tried several times to send an email via the "contact us" page on meguiars.com, but every time I enter the supplied code at the bottom of the page it just bounces right back to me. If in fact it got sent it has been 3 days and no response. So......I gonna post my comments here and hope that a Meguiar's rep monitors the forum enough to find it and respond. I have bought and used many Meguiar's products over the last 15 or more years. Ihave been especially happy with your waxes, cleaners, scratch remover, mist andshine, and your interior detailer and leather cleaner/conditioner. That is whywhen I wanted to clean and polish some underhood polished aluminum items (aircleaner lid, rocker covers, etc.) on my '72 Camaro restomod I chose a Meguiar'sproduct. I chose your Metal Polish (medium-cut) because the items had somespots and lack of shine, but no heavy oxidation or corrosion.
I have never been more disappointed in any polish product. Iapplied it by hand as suggested and used an orbital buffer with terry pad totry to polish the air cleaner lid. There was a lot of black residue transfer tothe cloths as I expected, but while the spots were only slightly improved therewas no shine improvement at all.....in fact it has left a dull haze on thepart. I am very reluctant to even try it on the rocker covers!
I don't know what you can suggest......but right now (forthe first time ever) I'd just like my money refunded at a minimum.
I look forward to your response.

First, sorry to hear about the contact problems, you can call them directly, 800-347-5700

There is nothing wrong with the metal polish but you should have use the Fine instead.
So switch to the Fine and you should be able to polish up the hazing caused by the Med polish.
Your aluminum isn't ruined and can be fixed.
    Posting pictures will help.

You may need to look at a more gentle application method also.

          Re: Metal Polish diappointment

We've moved this thread to the "Customer Service Hotline" section of the forum as this will generate an email to Brian Hann, manager of our Customer Care Center.

We apologize both for the issue with the product and on our website when you tried to submit your feedback. Not sure what was happening with that but maybe it's something for Brian to look into.

As Mario points out, pictures would be a big help because our new metal polishes generally do an outstanding job on a wide variety of metals, and just last night during our Open Garage session we polished up a bare aluminum wheel that was a total mess and it came out looking beautiful.

In any event, Brian should be chiming in and/or contacting you directly to discuss a resolution for you, even if that does indeed mean issuing a refund for you.
