  • Meguiar's Ultimate Wax

    Hello All,

I live in Canada and have been enjoying the benefits of renting a parking spot in my building's heated garage. I've been able to maintain good protection on my paint and clean windows. As recommended on this site I've been using Meguiar's Rinse Free Express Wash (amazing by the way!). This time around, I got the car scrubbed by a soft wash car wash (It was advertised as a touchless ) and went over it with the RFEW after parking it for some time. Then I waxed it with Ultimate Wax. I always use the swipe test and did so on this one after an hour of waiting (yes it's cold but it's humid still) but found that Meguiar's Ultimate Wax is sticking to my paint. All the BIFF'ing in the world won't take it off and it only "sticks" in some areas. Most notably, on the roof right now (which is 98% to 99% smooth).

It's just a sample bottle but so far I'm not liking it. I'll likely snag some #21 2.0 and use that along side #16.

Sounds like your paint isn't clean. especially if it's sticking to the horizontal roof.
      did you clay it?
Also use less, I only put on a micro thin layer of any wax and have never had a problem removing wax. even on an un-clayed car.

Trust me, I use very little. The paint is definitely clean at about 98% smooth; meaning the roof wouldn't be substantially better if I clayed the car.

Also, it is isn't sticking to just the roof, it is also sticking to parts of the hood, doors, etc, etc. It is minimal but I have a keen eye from my detailing experience.

Well I can say it's something on your paint.
Just because it's smooth doesn't mean it's clean. Unless you clean your paint properly then using a Last Step Product isn't the place to start.

I would clay, and polish. this should get ride of this problem.
What kind of car is it and year?
Also can you post some pics so we can see?

2011 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V with 22000km/13671miles. It is parked in-doors 99% of the time and received a single pass with UC using a DAPC/W-8006, then #7 by hand, then ULW, and #16 as an LSP and that was all done in October.

It is possible that contaminants are already bonding but I would be very surprised if that was the case given my new regime for the winter. I should've taken some pics before I was out and about in a winter storm but I'll see what I can do the next time I clean up the car.

                Re: Meguiar's Ultimate Wax

Ok that's the info I wanted.
the only thing I can think of is you might be leaving it on to long and maybe use a little more.

Not to say your car has bonded contaminate problem but if your car went outside it can get contaminated instantly and in spots too.
Contaminates are: Paint over spray from buildings, tree sap, Tire rubber, Diesel fuel, exhaust, Rail dust, Industrial fallout, fire ash, dirt and anything else in the air.

It is *entirely* possible that I left it on for too long. I don't have much experience with the latest and greatest from Megoo's since I'm not running my own detailing business anymore .

that's the only thing I can think of.
And UW is one of the latest and greatest from Mr. Megoo.
Sorry to hear your not detailing any more, hopefully your on to bigger and better things.

I would try a very plush MF towel with warm water in a spray bottle or quick detailer to remove the caked on spots. I think it is a combo of contaminants and you left it on too long.
