  • Store charging more than Meguiars?

I bought some #26 in the gallon... M2601 from a auto store and they listed #26 as $55 and the "sale" price was 39.95 (our cost for work). That is much more than Meguiars web site. Seems strange is this normal?

Where several days before I bought the same thing from another auto store for $25.45 (our cost for work). their list was 32.99. They were sold out so I could not get any more from them.

      Hi:

      Happens here all the time.

One reason I do most of my purchasing online. Pretty much stopped looking for Meguiar's at local stores; low availability and high markup.

      Regards,

Welcome to the world of retail.

Manufacturer's suggested list price is just that, a suggestion.

Retailers are free to charge whatever the market will bear (or discount to boost sales as they see fit). It's capitalism baby.

Unfortunatley, that is not unheard of. We supply all retailers suggested retail for our products, but ultimatelly, the retailer decides on their own pricing for products. I guess that is the beauty of the internet. You can order on-line directly from the source.

No excuses for gouging, but they also have to pay for shipping, building rent, utilities, employee salaries, marketing, PROFIT, etc.....
