    Soft Buff 2.0 pads

    OK, don't get me wrong - this is not a complaint. I currently have 15 Soft Buff 2.0 pads - 9 polishing, 3 cutting, and 3 finishing. I find that these pads are too big for my DA - I have more trouble with the pad vibrating and it takes a little longer to correct. I am using Lake Country 5.5 inch CCS pads right now and they work better for me. Some of the pads have been used - some have not. The ones that have been used have gone through the washer and dryer once and are still like new. The ones that are not used I did open - I don't know why. Anyway, I know Meguiar's offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee on their products, meaning if I am not 100% satisfied, I can return them for a full refund. I purchased these particular pads from ADS. I have already spoken with Rick, but he said since they were already opened and some of them were used, there wasn't really anything he could do since he couldn't turn around and sell them. Which is understandable, and he advised me to talk to Customer Care. So, I ask you, what should I do?

    Which backing plate are you using? If it is the old style W67DA then that is your problem, it is hard to get the new pads centered. Get the W68DA which is designed for for the 2.0 pads and you should be ok.

      It's the backing plate that came on my G110v2, which is the W68DA.

        I used the W67DA for a couple of details and was getting "okay" correction. Plus like Dave mentioned, the pad is a pain to center.

        Get yourself a W68DA plate and I think you will like it better, it just feels much more comfortable.

        I am thinking you have been using the W68DA plate though since you have a G110v2.

          You could sell the pads here on MOL if customer service does not refund the money.

              By the way, the reason your getting better correction is because your using a smaller pad. Nothing wrong with the W8207 pads, they are just bigger than the 5.5" pads.

                Shane, have you called Customer Care?

                Obviously not all paint is the same, but it's actually quite rare that our 7" pads are literally "too big" for D/A use and we use them exclusively on Thursday Nights and Saturday Classes on all kinds of cars with excellent results. While the 5.5" LC CCS pads will, in theory, offer a bit more cut due to the smaller size, they will also offer a bit less cut due to the textured face of the pad. Since Meguiar's and LC don't share an exact foam construction between any of our pads we can't make a true "all else being equal" comparison here, but just know that there is a trade off between the smaller size and the contoured face. You gain some, you lose some.

                Still, if you aren't happy with them let's see what Customer Care can do to take care of you. Calling them is always the best way to go.

                  Although you may not realize it while polishing, you are doing more passes with the smaller pad than the larger, because it is going to take more passes to cover a single area than with the larger. This only makes sense as to why you are getting better results with the smaller.

                  Perhaps try a few more passes with the larger ones and you will get better results, or overlap your passes with the larger.

                  Maybe you could go and take your test spot, see how many passes back and forth it takes you to do that area, then go ahead and do that many passes with the larger? Chances are that you will probably get the same results.

                  I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
                  I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

                      At the beginning, the first time in went to ADS i thought it looked like a crappy site. But i analyzed the site for 2 weeks to see if he had updates and stuffs, subscribed to the mail list and received offers and stuffs.

                      Well after that, i place an order of $350 and i dont regret it. Keep in mind i live in DR they got really well packaged to MIA. Also Rick was really nice, he replied really fast to my Messages.

                      So 5 Stars to ADS.

                      As the guy above have stated, "If you havent order from ADS, DO IT ALREADY!" it will worth it.
