  • Endurance High Gloss Long Lasting Tire Protectant Gel

    Good evening everyone,

common sense dictates that it probably isn't a good idea to put tire gel on motorcycle tires, right? Therefore, isn't it performance decreasing when you put it on the outer tread on car tires like virtually everyone does? That part of the tire only ever has contact to the road in very quick corners and I wouldn't want decreased safety of any kind in those type of driving situations.

Am I correct and Meguiar's just assumes you don't put it on the tires when you drive like that? Because I have seen it on loads of supercars on here and those are probably driven rather quickly.

One guy on here who does AutoX claimed that it did in fact decrease his performance but that may have been subjective and he was the only one.

I like the look if you do the outer tread which is why I would very much appreciate a proper statement.

    Thanks

    Thomas

Even on a high performance vehicle the tires are very much flat to the ground from the treads.

Keep in mind further that high performance vehicles typically have very wide tires to begin with, which offer them better grip and stability to prevent the sidewalls from contact the ground. Hence any tire dressing should never contact the ground unless the vehicle is about to roll.

On a final note, from what I've seen very few people actually drive super cars the way you describe. In fact, most super cars, sadly, live very "sheltered" lives. Although they are babied by their owners, they're also spoiled and not often taken out to use their fullest potential.

In an auto-x situation you probably don't want a tire shine product on your tires. But if you're driving on the street like most guys auto-x, you're going to lose your license in very short order. There is a huge difference between these two types of driving.

        Thank you for your replies.

@Michael: I don't go auto-x crazy on the street (and I have never been on a race track with my car) but every once in a while there will be squeaking tires which is why I asked. I will just be very careful not to get any dressing on the outer tread then.
Would anybody have a good technique for that so that it will still look uniformly?

A foam applicator is a nice thing to use, even and uniform look and maybe a second application if you would like more gloss.

People also you like a paint brush and if you use this method I would let it sit for a couple of minutes and then come back with a foam applicator to remove the excess and won't have any sling problems
