Supreme Shine Quality Control Issue

Hi All


After viewing this thread http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41829 I decided to see what all the hype was about, so
I went ahead and placed an order. I recieved my SS towels yesterday. I purchased 4 packs of 3 (a total of 12 towels) After I recieved them, I removed all the towels from the packaging, and then immediately washed and dried them.

When I started to fold them, I noticed something out of the ordinary.






This is before & after washing/drying. The four folded towels on the left have not been washed, & the four folded towels on the right, have been washed.























This is the worst one, (four pics above) measuring 26 3/4 x 31 3/4 corner to corner. Thats 5'' out of square. Most of the others are in the neighborhood of 27'' x 30 1/2'', very much out of square.

I'm not here to bash a company/manufacturer, but to convey what appears to be a quality issue with the SS MF's. I have purchased numerous MF's from various manufacturers/vendors, & never, have I ever seen a towel that was out of square. In this case, way out of square. This is unacceptable. I would like to work something out with Meg. I wouldn't mind having some towels that are square.

Out of the 12 towels I recieved, two were perfectly square, (acceptable) & one was very close to square, being accpeptable, thus nine out of the twelve towels were 5"-6" out of square, which is way, way, way out of square.

These are two of the three towels that are square. This is acceptably square, what I expect a towel to look like.

The towels quality goes down with every batch I order. I would buy 100+ plus of these towels a year, but each order now goes down.

They are stupid thin, and as you say, the shape is often out, although I must admit the thinness bothers me most.

I wish there was an equal alternative at this size.

I would rather Meguiar's charge an extra $2-3 per 3 pack than go down on quality.

Wow, that is messed up. I have never seen SS towels that out of square. I am sure customer care can help you out.

I have about 25 SS towels, including the 12 from there, and I didn't have that problem, as I did fold them all, and I usually fold them when I use them, so if they had been that way I would have noticed. The random one I measured was 27-1/2 and 27-3/4 inches on the diagonals.

I agree what you got is unacceptable. It looks like they were mis-cut somehow.

Thanks for the heads up, though I never had any issues with my old batch of SS. Let me check on my new batch that I have stocked; bought around 200pcs just to make sure I have enough. Hope none has this defect.

Some of the towels I just sent back to them for lint shedding problems were out of square as well but nowhere near the level yours are.

OMG. I could never, ever own a towel that out of shape. I'm am OCD about that stuff, lol. That would drive me nuts. They do look a lot less fluffy too than all of my older ones...

Thanks for bringing this situation to our attention - we have already passed this along to the proper folks to look into why these towels are trimmed out this way. Obviously this shape is not correct, but the towels will certainly still function as per usual.

Just got off the phone with Meguiars customer service. Even though I have posted pictures of the towels, the representative, Rick, told me I have to ship them to Meguiars, and they will send replacements. I already paid for shipping once, and am not going to pay for shipping to return a product that is clearly defective.

Hi mb911, Acccording to Rick, with whom I just spoke to, Rick says that the thickness does not matter in the least in terms of towel performance. Rick also stated that the towels being out of square, will also not affect performance. I fold my towels during use. When you look at the pics, it's obvious that they cannot be properly folded.

I realize this is a brand specific forum, so for now, lets forget about Wally World

As for the Microtex brand MF's from Wal Mart, the difference in quality is night & day. The Blue & green 8 packs cost $5.00 That equates to .625 cents apiece. The only reason I mentioned price, is because of Marys reply in the other thread. The price is irrelevant, the issue here is that of quality. (or lack of)

Looking at the Micotex side by side with the Megs SS towels, the build quality is far superior to the SS towels. The microtex towels are just slightly thicker, but the overall quality is far superior to that of the SS towels.
