  • How long do the Finishing Pads last?

I hate to sound like a cry baby, but, how long are these buffing pads last?

I went online and bought a bunch of Meguiars stuff, and about 2 months ago, I buffed out, waxed and everything on all our cars... 26 hours and 3 cars later, I was pretty sore...

Anyhow, since that time, I would do a little quick wax and MF towels for cleanup... fairly easy....

Then, I finally got around to ordering the MF bonnets... boy, I'm never going back to the standard MF towels for removing wax...

Anyhow, back to the story... I was using my finishing pad to apply the wax (2nd time being used) and the backing plate on the finishing pad is peeling off...

Whats worse is that if it does come off while waxing, it can SERIOUSLY scratch up your finish...

so, to make a long story short, how long do these pads suppose to last???

This was only my 2nd time using the pad.

    Thanks
    Danny

Btw, I have 2 finishing pads, and this only happened to 1 of the 2 pads...

And the other pad has been used twice also, and no problems thus far.

    Any ideas?

I have never had it happen to me, however I have heard of that happening. I would call customer care. I think the number is 1 800 347 5700. From what I have heard, they have taken very good care of people who have had the same problem.
Good luck, they are very helpful and competent.

        :iagree

I think that there's something wrong with the actual pad since the other pad you have didn't experience the same thing. I know it would be best to call customer service.

          Hi Guys,

Yes, this pad should be lasting longer then two uses. Questions for you. What speed are you running the machine at? I recommed that it be ran at 4. If you run this machine too high (6 on the dial) you can cause the plastic backing plate to heat up, which could over time cause a problem with the glue on the pad. Please PM me your shipping address and I would be happy to have a replacement pad sent out to you.

We have improved the glue that is on these pads and this may have just been a pad with the old style glue.

Let us know if you continue to have any problems.

          Regards,

          Tom

            Tom,

This occurred on my finishing pad, so I was only running it between 3-4 on the dial... usually 3.5 when applying the wax, and 3 when removing the wax with the bonnet

I will PM you further details.
