  • Quick Interior Detailer Question...

    Hello,

First off I want to say, I absolutely love using this product on all the interior surfaces of my car, it works beautifully and the results are simply stunning! But, I was wondering if it is safe to use on electronics, such as a laptop computer, particular a new unibody MacBook Pro? I wouldn't spray it directly onto the computer but rather a clean microfiber towel first. Then just wipe it down with the MF towel dampened with QID. Does this sound like a good idea? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Certainly can dust your keyboard, etc with it. Might streak on the monitor, not sure.

      I think you can.
I would clean the display with a dedicated cleaner so I would keep QID away from it

I use it on the exterior of my MBP. It keeps the case clean, fingerprint and dust free. I use it like you described, via a mf towel.. I don't use it on the LCD screen.

I have used it to wipe my laptop down inside and out with a MF towel since it came out. One of the many uses I use it for outside of the car.

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I think I'm just going to use it on all the surfaces, except for the screen, which I will get a dedicated cleaner for; as jfelbab and yalerd suggested.

Probably the best thing to do would be to take the safe road and keep it simple and use a clean, microfiber polishing cloth dampened with water.

I second that. Apple recommends using only a damp cloth with water as QID is not designed for this purpose. If you need a cleaner I would recommend iKlear:

                iKlear

This stuff is amazing and is not only formulated for Apple products, but is the only cleaner recommended by Apple and the cleaner they use at all their Apple stores.

And by the way, I'm responding to this on a unibody MacBook cleaned with iKlear!

While this may not be the Meguiar's recommended use but ...

I wipe down my whole 17" Powerbook with QID; screen and all.

I thought the new Macbooks had a glass cover over the screen? If so just wipe the whole thing down with QID and you'll be fine. By the way, I never spray it directly onto the keys or screen, I don't think it will do damage but I just figure it would be better not to.

I'm sure they do at $25 a pop for an 8oz. bottle!

                          Re: Quick Interior Detailer Question...

I use the QID to clean my LCD TV and my laptop. Works great. It does not leave behind any film on the screens.
Oh, I have not tried the newer QID which has more protection to it. I have only used the old QID.

That's what I do on my iMac & the screen is crystal clear with no imperfections.
